Library Issue Back On Agenda

I see that the library issue is back on the agenda for the West Bend Common Council this evening.

9. A request by Alderman Dobberstein to rescind the Common Council’s defeat of the Mayor’s appointments to the Library Board.

10. Approval of Mayoral appointments to the Library Board.

As I understand it, Dobberstein can’t ask for reconsideration of the previous vote because he voted in the minority.  Only a member who voted in the majority can ask for reconsideration.  So this appears to be a motion to rescind the previous decision.  Judging from my email, both sides are planning to show up in force.  It might be a very long meeting.

  1. I imagine that whilst we sit here at our keyboards, the city hall parking lot is being cleared and a rented circus tent is on the way.  If they bring real elephants to help set it up, I am so there!!

  2. Someone had better show some leadership, broker a deal, and get West Bend off the front pages. This is bad for business. I can imagine what the folks at West Bend Mutual are thinking.

  3. When’s Colbert’s plane landing?  Or maybe Borat?  Both would have a field day with this mess.

  4. Canceled: Ginny’s group was a no show.  They called ahead or someone on the council called them?  Pro-library group appeared.
Did the council delay over anxieties the room would get packed beyond fire code allowance again?  I bet the city attorney is getting legal advice on how to move.  Now they are delaying.

  5. I was there this evening.  The City Attorney is on vacation, so that’s not relevant.  My understanding is that they pushed the issue because they wanted to give more notice.
