Liar or Sexist?

You tell me.

Amid a push from the White House and progressive Democrats for tighter gun control laws, President Obama revealed today he made time for shooting during retreats. The revelation came in an interview published this morning in which the president was asked if he had ever held a gun.

“Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” he responded to the New Republic.

“Not the girls…

If Obama supports sport shooting and gun rights, why wouldn’t he share that value with his kids?

  1. Oh Christ.  Are you serious?  Maybe the girls just don’t like skeet shooting?  It’s something he does with other guests.

  3. Sounds like Obama is afraid to let the women around him have guns.

In the crime cesspool of D.C., women having guns should be mandatory.

  4. And from your comments on the combat thread one would think the women of your household would not, or is it should not, be exposed to actually ever having to use a gun.

Maybe the Obama girls are just exercising their right of choice?

Mikey, why don’t you chime in with something laughable?

  5. fu,

There is a big difference between protecting, and defending, oneself vs. going out to eliminate an enemy on a battlefield.

Making the military more palatable to the idea of marching my wife and daughter onto a battlefield is far different than defending themselves from a street thug liberals would go out of their way to protect as a victim.

  6. There is a big difference between protecting, and defending, oneself vs. going out to eliminate an enemy on a battlefield.

What difference is that? Wouldn’t someone who’s gone through basic combat training and learned how to use a firearm be much better prepared to defend themselves from street thugs?

  7. “all the time”

Well, there _is_ a skeet range there.

Pity the Marines who work there, and run the skeet range, are going to be closed-mouth about what ‘all the time’ means.

  8. So you’re aversion to collectivism applies to patriotism as well?

  9. Joe,

    What difference is that?

Big difference.  The goal of combat is to kill people and break things.

The goal of leaving one’s house in D.C. is to defend oneself from hurt or harm.  Unless you are saying D.C., with strictest “gun control” in the nation, is a war zone and people need to tracvel D.C. as if it is a battlefield.

Gun control is using both hands.  I’m all for women having guns, in and out of military, even women in non-combat roles in military.  I’m just never in favor of, purposely, putting women in harm’s way, expecially in DC.

  10. So you’re aversion to collectivism applies to patriotism as well

If the “patriotism” means marching my wife and daughter off to war, when it is the duty of men to be the family protector…yes the collective mentality is off base.

  11. Maybe he does not think they are old enough.  Maybe he does not think they are responsible enough to use a shotgun.  It is called being a good parent.

And as someone pointed out, maybe his daughters do not want to shoot.  I am not sure there are to many girls their age who would want to, certainly not many who did not grow up doing it.  Remember they lived in an urban area not on a farm.

  12. Too bad someone didn’t ask Obama if he field dresses the “skeets” himself after he shoots them or if someone does it for him.

The goal of combat is to protect your country from hurt or harm Kev.

Gun control is using both hands.

Wrong again Kev, gun control is hitting your target:)

  20. His wording is a bit odd. I have shot skeet a long time and I have never ever heard anyone refer to “doing” skeet shooting.
