My column for the Daily News is online. It’s called, “Let’s keep going.”
Property tax is the tax I hate the most.
If you want to pay less sales tax - buy less
If you want to pay less income tax - earn less
But you have no options on property tax. They want more money every year with no consideration for your situation. In this market you can’t even sell your property.
How about we work on the ability of Dane County judges to act as the dictatorial lords of the legitimate elected government .
What exactly would you like to do, crusher? Other than remove your political opponents and replace them with people who will let you run roughshod over the minority, regardless of the legality or constitutionality of your actions?
Maybe something can be done to prevent MATCs’ repeated rapes of the taxpayer?
Perhaps it really does cost over $100,000./year (with lifetime tenure and rich benefits) to retain good cosmetology instructors (etc.), but I’d like to see the legislature create an independent investigation to determine the free market value of MATC employees.
And a hard look at what works at MATC, and what doesn’t. The fact is, graduation rates at MATC are dismal, and as a result the cost to the taxpayer for each graduate is astronomical. IMHO if the taxpayer is supporting a student then that student should be responsible for maintaining a reasonable GPA.

This narrative of liberal Madison vs the rest of the state needs to stop. All judges should be impartial. Can a judge from Vilas County or Rusk County put a halt to state legislation. What gives Dane judges more power than my local county judge in issues regarding the entire state?
“...replace them with people who will let you run roughshod over the minority”
You mean like the Messiah? You mean like all the factories that are going for sale before the end of the year to avoid the 66% inheritence tax? You mean like all the full-time workers that are now going to be part time due to ObamaCare? Those minorities?
Elections have consequences.

I had a paragraph on unelected boards, but it didn’t make the cut ![]()
Good nonsequitor, bajaskier.
And crusher, I agree that it’s silly that only Dane County district courts can enjoin statewide legislation. Perhaps there should be a court like the D.C. Circuit or the Federal Circuit that has more “expertise” on what state agencies can and can’t do, as well as issues of checks and balances or delegation of authority? I’m not sure how we’d set it up or select the judges to sit on it, but surely there is a better way than waiting around for the WI SC to hear a matter.
