Things aren’t looking good in Lebanon.
BEIRUT, Lebanon - Lebanon’s political tumult intensified as President Emile Lahoud said the country is in a “state of emergency” and handed security powers to the army before he left office late Friday without a successor. The rival, pro-Western Cabinet rejected the declaration.
Lahoud’s final announcement created new confusion in an already unsettled situation, which many Lebanese fear could explode into violence between supporters of Prime Minister Fuad Saniora’s Western-backed government and the pro-Syria opposition led by the Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
The departure of Lahoud, a staunch ally of the Syrian regime during nine years in office, was a long-sought goal of the government installed by parliament’s anti-Syria majority, which has been trying to put one of its own in the presidency.
Let’s not assume the lefty position on this.
Negativity abounds on this subject.
When the terrorists take control the swing voting middle will realize the error of their ways and throw the bums out.
I’m not daft here, I understand the implications of two more years of terrorist rule.
What I’m saying is that what we are witnessing in “the former lands of Rome, named palestine, after the philistines they abrogated their” is a rejection of terrorist policy as a ruling class.
Call me pollyanna, but facts on the ground must be recognized.
Palestine has rejected Hamas as a ruling party. A real civil war is occurring in that country today. The people are rejecting death as a virtue.
This major change in thinking is not reported in American newspapers, but is happening on the ground daily.
History resounds, Lebanon deserves freedom and Men and Women will step forward and assure that result.
Imagine if you will, a middle east of free elections in Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, Djibouti, Qatar, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Dubai and maybe even Saudi Arabia (they have held elections previously).
This is the freedom these people are fighting for. Do not discount this foriegn policy. The results are forthcoming.
Ched- Hamas is in Palestine, not in Lebanon.
This issues is very complicated because of the power sharing agreements laid out at the end of the civil war. Now if the Christians would ever agree to a new census then there probably would not be a deadlock on deciding the new president.
