Kimchi v. SARS

Some in Korea believe that there is a low incidence of SARS in Korea because Koreans consume mass quantities of kimchi.  (Image and link via Corsair)

I have to say that given a choice between the two, it would be a tough call…potentially fatal disease…potentially fatal gastro-intestinal problems.   Tough call.

I can honestly say that in my 28 years, I have tasted nothing more foul than cabbage kimchi (cucumber kimchi’s not bad, though).   The Koreans eat that stuff three meals a day, and the whole country smells like it.   Nothing quite like the smell of rotten cabbage in the morning.   Yukkkkkk.

  1. whoever wrote this ignorant comment about kimchi, something that they have no authority over or knowledge about is the stupidest fucker i ever met. Stop stereotyping a culture before you go deep inside to know it. Kimchi might be a taboo to others but it help during SAR crisis. Please email me back on whatyour fucking ethinicity you are so I could bad mouth it also. And see how you feel. Before you make any judgements about a culture that you have no clue about think about how your culture can be a tabboo. If you’re going to say shit without intellectual comments and evidence to back your statement don’t say it at all. IN you comment you sound so stupid for a 28 year old bastard. No one eats it 3 times a day. most of your statement is false and your a jackass. The country doesn’t smell like kimchi, you never been there so you have no right to say that. WEll america smells shit everywhere full of poverty and your saying the most advance techonological country smells check yourself!

  3. Ummmmm…. Jed was stationed in Korea for a year.  And I think he is perfectly entitled to dislike a particular food.  For the record, I wouldn’t even try it, so Jed’s got a leg up on me.
