Kevin Outing A Blogger

Kevin at Lakeshore Laments is outing a blogger.

So, it’s time I say something that’s been needs to be said: It’s time to out a blogger.

Let’s get something out in the open that about 80% of the State Capitol already knows:

Former staffer for Steve Wieckert (R-Appleton), Former staffer for Sheryl Albers (R-Reedsburg), Ryan Gruber is the anonymous blogger known as the Recess Supervisor who blogs at “Playground Politics.”

  2. I have to agree with folkbum here.

(Although he’s been “out” for awhile, but it seems like it was blog commenters who did the deed.)

  3. Not cool, but maybe it’s not unfair.

Everyone on at the capitol has known for more than a year, but it never tempered the recess supervisor’s comments. I’m not sure it matters one way or the other.

I am still fascinated by the idea that people think anonymous bloggers will remain anonymous. It’s a risk that blogger takes. And in the playground of politics, an outing should not be much of a surprise.

  4. I’m not clear on the blogger outing rules.  Was Ryan Gruber a “covert Blogperative”.  I’m a little confused, you see Valerie Plame says she was “COVERT”, but clearly she was not according to the statutes that determine such “covert operatives” and protect them.  Libs have bullshited and demogogued her as having been “OUTED” when she was never “IN” to begin with.  As a matter of fact Mz. Plame testified before Congress last Friday and said she was “covert” and had been “outed”.    Not true Mz Plame.
So, in conclusion I think we need blogger rules.
I hope Ryan’s safety hasn’t been compromised now that we all know his name.

Funny you would think if she lied to Congress and even on C-Span, Alberto would be all over her with indictments.

I wonder why Rove and Meyers will only have private , unrecorded and definitely not under oath “interviews” with Congress?

  9. The level of your denial and dishonsty is stunning.  I’m not kidding pjr, you are competely and utterly dishonest.

Plame was not COVERT.  You may play little liberal power grab games, but the statute has specific standards for what COVERT is.  She did not meet those standards.

You sicken sometime pjr.  You are not honest.

  10. So mickey if she lied to Congress why hasn’t she been indicted?

I know it must be to painful to think of Rove and Meyers under oath. Who knows what they might be asked.

  11. Pjr.  You sicken me.  There are statutes that dictate who is and who isn’t COVERT.  Plame did not meet the criteria for being covert.  The special prosecutor knows that.
Plame stated before Congress she was COVERT and OUTED.
She’s full of shit.  I don’t believe we should waste any more time on Plame.  She is scum.
You too are scum.  You have no honesty, you’re a lib tool and you’d lie to your own mother if it won you power.
Again Pjr.  No offense, but dishonestly ass holes like you sicken me.  There really isn’t any reason to debate you, because you are dishonest.
Plame was NOT covert.  She ran her mouth knowing that charging her with perjury would send you fucking twits into a never ending tantrum.  There are some liberals who earn a little respect.  They believe in their viewpoint and honestly express it.  You don’t.
The real question is, if Plame was covert, why hasn’t Armitage been indicted.

  12. It’s always nice to see the threads go off on a tangent right away. Am I miwssing something? Wasn’t this about outing a blogger? Or does it always go back to the liberal/conservative argument?

  13. why hasn’t Armitage been indicted.

Good question mickey, you probably know the answer, right?

    So, I just want to be clear on this, your contention is;

She ran her mouth knowing that charging her with perjury would send you fucking twits into a never ending tantrum.

A pretty serious allegation or are you clairvoyant?
mickey you now know the motivations of Valerie Plame?

Oh and mickey I know alcohol can sort of make things run together but you are the one who brought Plame up my friend.

  14. Well, we can sort out the Recess Supervisor’s status by looking at the definitions in the law:

    (4) The term “covert agent” means—
    (A) a present or retired officer or employee of an intelligence agency or a present or retired member of the Armed Forces assigned to duty with an intelligence agency—
    (i) whose identity as such an officer, employee, or member is classified information, and
(ii) who is serving outside the United States or has within the last five years served outside the United States

If you substitute “blogger” for all the job titles there, its seems like the Supe meets (ii) (he’s in Spain) but not necessarily (i), since his identity wasn’t necessarily a secret to the people around him.

On the other hand, if you substitute the job titles back in for where we stuck “blogger,” then it looks like Valerie Wilson meets both (i) and (ii).  So I guess Gen. Hayden was correct when he said she was covert.

  15. Thank you folkbum for clearing that up on both counts.
