Assuming this is true, one must step back and consider how wretched JFK was.
The President and I were in the pool, splashing playfully, while Dave Powers was sitting on the edge, with his feet dangling in the water. Then JFK swam over and whispered in my ear: ‘Mr Powers looks a little tense — would you take care of it?’
I knew exactly what that meant: it was a dare to give Dave Powers oral sex.
I don’t think the President thought I’d do it, but I’m ashamed to say that I did. It was a pathetic, sordid scene, and I can hardly bear to think about it. Dave was jolly and obedient as I stood in the shallow end of the pool and performed my duties. The President silently watched.

Try as I may, I cannot explain why, without hesitation, I obeyed his command. Perhaps I was carried away by a spirit of playfulness.
Perhaps I was in thrall to his charm and authority. No doubt my own insecurity and need for his approval had something to do with it. What I do know is that Dave and I were umbilically linked to each other in our devotion to President Kennedy.
But now the man who’d engaged our complete loyalty had gone too far. He’d emotionally abused me and debased Dave. For what? To watch me perform and to show Dave how much he controlled us?
Afterwards, I was deeply embarrassed. As I climbed out of the pool, I heard Dave say sternly to his boss: ‘You shouldn’t have made her do that.’
‘I know, I know,’ was the reply. Later, a chastened President Kennedy apologised to us both.
For the first time, I’d seen his dark side.
Consider a man using his enormous power to pimp out a 19-year-old woman with whom he was cheating on his wife. For all of the fawning over JFK, he was a pretty disgusting human being.
He must have had quite a hold over her if she didn’t bring it up until 50 years after he died. I guess I read this sort of thing as fiction. There may be large chunks of truth in what she wrote, but it could just as easily have all been made up. We’ll never know.
I agree with Wendy on this. Nothing like trashing someone 50 years after he can’t rebut any claims, and likely long after anyone who could rebut them is also dead. Obviously, if this is true, it is an awful story, and I have no reason to doubt it. But at this point, why bring this up (other than for money, of course)?
It was awfully handy that the assassin’s bullet prevented him from defending himself agains these slurs.
And I love the Daily Mail’s breathless lede…
a memoir that’s shocked America
snicker…
I think the most interesting thing is the complicity of the media back in those days. I wonder how we would view certain politicians today without the 24/7 media.
Considering the scumbaggery of the Kennedy klan, from Joe Sr and the Nazis to Teddy and Chappaquiddick, this comes as no surprise to me.
Laying aside the veracity of this story, after all that we’ve leared about the Kennedy’s over the years, I find myself thinking that it is easy to believe that this actually happened. I imagine that the author has many reasons why she waited so long to divulge this. I also wonder why it took her so long. Perhaps she is relating in the first person something that happened to another person now deceased. Regardless, knowing that Kennedy was such a philanderer I can easily find this believable.
I wonder what the 50 year old version will be of our other presidents. What kind of nasty stuff went on in the White House before or since then. I won’t hold my breath waiting as I too will be dead in 50 years. Nothing to see here.
She was “outed” by a different person as having an affair with the President, which does lend some credibility… but these are some very awful claims about a man who cannot defend himself. Hell, I wasn’t even alive when he was shot, so how can I judge him guilty based purely on one person’t testimony?
If true, it paints a disgusting picture of the worst that happens when someone is giving great power. It should be a reminder to EVERYONE, no matter what party, at the corrupting influence that power has on a person.
Whether this particular story is 100% accurate or only 10% accurate, the bigger point is that the overwhelming body of evidence over the last 50-years is that most of the Kennedy’s left an awful lot to be desired as to how they lived their lives.
When you take their whole “body of work” from all the Joe Kennedy stories, JFK stories and Teddy stories (from his Chris Dodd threesome to that night in palm beach with Williams Kennedy Smith) it isn’t a flattering impression one gets.
Yet as Rush would say, the femi-nazi movement in the US continues to worship this crew despite the fact they lived their lives not particularly respectful of women.
This may or may not be true - who waits 50 years to tell their story?
I think her mutual funds needed a boost.

She’ll more than likely sell a lot of books to people who quote Rush.
Could it be she kept it quiet until after Ted Kennedy died because she valued her own health and welfare?
It is kind of interesting that in other similar cases we are asked to accept at face value that, say, Thomas Jefferson fathered a child by a slave, that Ike had an affair with his female driver, and that Eleanor Roosevelt was a lesbian. Perhaps because these sort of allegations are politically correct and allegations against the Kennedy’s are not. I don’t know. I’m inclined to believe the story for if no other reason that it follows a pattern that the Kennedy’s., good or bad, have set for themselves.
As someone else stated earlier, she was outed in another book when one of Kennedy’s aides was interviewed for it three years ago. With it finally being public, she then decided to tell her own story so she could get her side of the story and not have others talk about her relationship.
