I was in sunny York, Nebraska, yesterday. I went to dinner with a couple of colleagues at a little restaurant called “Chances R” in downtown York. One of my colleagues ordered a Johnny Walker Red. The waitress took the order and headed to the bar to get it. We overheard her asking the bartender, “what’s in a Johnny Walker Red?” Needless to say, they didn’t have any.
There’s a good-sized commercial lawn mower manufacturer in York, NE.
That and the restaurant, eh?

Hey, there’s a pretty decent Hampton too. I had a marvelous view of a field… and I-80.
And they say business travel is glamorous… pffffbbbbbb….
He just didn’t ask the right way, he should’ve said: “Johnny Walker Red neat. Do it, do it.
Too funny. I was in York, NE this morning. Spent the night in Columbus, NE. Yeah I truly love the glamor of business travel. Wish my colleagues in the office could see me now. Then they would really know how great travelling every week is.
BTW, I have enjoyed reading your blog for the last few years. I live in the Milwaukee area.
I’m glad I’m done with business travel. I’ve been to every city greater than 100,000 in population in the US and there are so few i’d like to go back to.
It’s funny how all the inside customer service people think business travel is so fantastic. The thing they don’t realize is the only things you get to see are the insides of the motel room and office buildings.
I love the aspect of getting to see different cities for free on the company dime. Of course I’m in the real estate consulting/development business so “geography” always thrills me. I just hate being in a plane. Air travel sucks these days. Midwest use to be great, now they are just like every other carrier. Seeing our great country is awesome. “getting there” sucks.
On the company dime and he only ordered “Red Label”? He should have gone for the gusto but I guess it wouldn’t have mattered anyway.
