Jobless Claims Up

Ouch.

The number of Americans filing first-time claims for unemployment insurance climbed unexpectedly last week.

There were 473,000 initial jobless claims filed in the week ended Feb. 13, up 31,000 from the previous week’s upwardly revised 442,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

  1. But, in Obama world, this is still good, right?  According to the graphic at this link, all is well, because under Obama’s watch, the monthly number of jobs lost is trending down. Never mind that less people are working than before, and that there are less jobs to lose.  It’s kind of like your first stock broker loses 25% of your investments, and the next one loses 20%.

I guess this is the best that they can come up with.

  3. The stimulus saved, or created, over two million jobs. Trust me!

  4. It doesn’t matter… those jobs were lost because of the failed policies of the Bush administration and the greed and deficit spending of the Republican congress. All jobs lost are a result of Republicans and all jobs gained are due to the brilliant Stimulus package, Obama, and the Democrat party.

    Duh, everyone knows that.

Oh, and the successful Iraq war is one of the crowning jewels of the Obama/Biden team….
