Jo Egelhoff for Assembly

Go, JO!

The last two weeks have been a big decision time in my family – and I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be running to succeed State Rep. Steve Wieckert, a great Republican representing residents in the 57th Assembly District.

I’m excited and I’m nervous all rolled into one. Nervous about all the planning and work that must be done over the next six months and excited to get started meeting more and more folks in the 57th.

Wieckert’s district is about 2/3 of the City of Appleton plus one adjacent ward in the Village of Little Chute.

[...]

One of my top priorities will be to stop the insane raiding of our pocketbooks. That’s why I’m running - to represent the people and the pocketbooks of the 57th Assembly District.

Jo is an outstanding person who knows and cares about the issues facing our state.  If you are in the 57th, I highly encourage you to get involved in her campaign and help her get elected.

  1. It would be Great if She Hired Binversie or Hackbarth to run her campaign!!!

  2. There’s also an article in the Post Crescent today that talks about Jo’s work on behalf of tsunami victims, laudable, for sure.  It appears to be dated today.

One problem.  The article lists her current address as 3417 Blue Spruce Ln. in Appleton, an address that one can confirm through CCAP has been her address for a long time.  That address is located in Ward 42 in Appleton.  Ward 42’s representative in the Assembly is Al Ott.

So it’s great to congratulate her and all, but unless the Post-Crescent screwed up her address, shouldn’t the first question we ask Jo is “when do you plan to actually reside in the district you’re running to represent?” I mean, Scott Newcomer at least had a lot purchased in his district when he was running.

I’ll be very interested to hear about Egelhoff’s plans about taxes and also what address she plans on listing when she files her declaration of candidacy.

  3. As long as she is a resident by the time she is sworn in it should not be a problem.  It is not like she is moving across the state to run, she lives in the same city.  For all we know the district is across the street from her current residence.

  4. Ah, the Scott Newcomer rule.  Of course.  Still, it’s worth pointing out.  Voters will make their own decision as to whether it’s important or not.  But it is something that people should be aware of.

  5. Biff, I’m flattered but I don’t think I’m anywhere near the best choice. Now, if she wanted to run a damn good online campaign…

  6. Um, no thanks, I’m gainfully employed.

  7. P.S.  Gruber, you don’t work for Wieckert anymore, why does Egelhoff jumping in this race matter so much to you?

  8. Actually, Jo lives in the district. I checked. And the Newcomer rule is, “As long as you change your voting registration to a vacant lot within the district to make it look like you intend to move there.” (Newcomer did eventually move to the district.)
