Interesting

The most interesting part of this ad is Obama’s statement that he doesn’t know why the woman’s husband is having trouble getting placed. Not “getting a job.” Not “getting hired.” “Getting placed.” For someone to get placed, someone else must place them. It reveals Obama’s perspective on working Americans.

  1. “Getting placed.”

    He knows what he’s told, what he hears from people he talks to.

    The _funny_ part, for me, is that he seemed genuinely baffled that the guy couldn’t find work: ‘That’s not what my people told me about the category of ‘people in hi tech.’

    Reminded me of every boss I’ve known who was surrounded by ‘yes’ men determined not to present bad news to the boss.

    Oh yah: the Republic is in good hands.

  2. You guys sound like the post-modern English professors you so love to hate;  ardently “deconstructing” text for “revealed meaning”. I think its called textual analysis.

  3. you so love to hate;

    I strenuously object to being labeled and pigeonholed and stereotyped.

  4. Here’s hoping Obama will be needing outplacement services after 11/2012!
