I Have a Snake For You, Little Girl

Of course, you have to dig to know that this creep is a Democrat.

A five-time Connecticut state representative issued an apology and was stripped of his leadership post for what some people construed as a lewd remark to a teenage girl.

“If you’re bashful I got a snake sitting under my desk here,” State Rep. Ernest Hewett can be heard telling a 17-year-old girl during a Feb. 20 committee meeting.

The teenager had just testified in support of more funding for the Connecticut Science Center’s ambassador program.

She had told lawmakers that by participating in the program, which included handling snakes and turtles, she became more outgoing.

Politics + Politics - General

  1. Democrats and Republicans share dumb remarks and scandals pretty equally.
For every every Elliot Spitzer, there is a David Vitter.

I will say that Republicans are often WAAAAAAy more sorry for their behavior since they often sell themselves to the public as a Bible loving , family men who love the baby jesus more than their opponents than weep uncontrollably when they prove themselves very , very human.

Think of Political versions of Jimmy Swaggart or Ted Haggard - but less entertaining and sympathetic.

  2. Wow, I agree with Mark.

It’s interesting, when a Democrat is involved in something like this, the word “Democrat” is never used or seldom used.

When its a Republican, the word “Republican”, or “conservative”, is used constantly in the article over and over again.

  3. According to the AP, “Hewett, a five-term Democrat from New London, said his words did not come out as intended. He told The Day of New London, “What I meant to say was, if you are shy then I have an acre of land in the Everglades.”

    Huh?

  4. All scandalous news articles involving politicians either have an [R] in the title or no party designation.  No designation means the politician is a [D].

  5. Democrats will excuse any behavior since the end always justifies the means.

  8. Kevin and Terry, please read #3 .

I don’t see Comment #‘s in my browser, but I assume #3 is “another_jed”.  If so, then he’s quoting from a different source, and that’s not an apology, it’s an excuse and a lie.  I didn’t see any results for “Democrat” in the article Owen linked to.

  9. My comment is based on over 50 years of reading newspapers and viewing TV news reports.

It’s a generality.  I’m sure Mark could find an exception to prove his statement in his own mind.
