If only this happened every time.
An 18-year-old Sheboygan man was injured Friday after being struck by a car while stealing a bicycle, Sheboygan Police said.
According to police, the teenager was riding on the back of a friend’s bike Friday when he jumped off, put a bandanna on his face and stole a bike from a home in the 2500 block of S. 17th St.
When he took off on it, police say, he ran a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle.
But this is a problem.
The driver of the car was not hurt, and the owner of the bicycle did not want to press charges.
Doesn’t want to press charges? Why not? If some thug ripped off my bike and promptly damaged it in an accident, I’d press charges in a heartbeat.
This thug was obviously cruising the neighborhood looking to steal something. Good guys don’t put bandannas over their faces and steal things. And I can pretty much guarantee that at age 18, this was not the thug’s first time committing a crime. Yet when he’s caught dead to rights, the owner of the bike doesn’t press charges!?!? When your neighbors start condoning losers trolling the neighborhood stealing things, it’s time to move.
