Huebsch Looks Into Failed Computer Projects

I just hope that the people he puts on the task force know a thing or two about running large IT projects

Speaker Mike Huebsch, R- West Salem, said Wednesday he would appoint a task force to look into a series of troubled computer projects that have already cost taxpayers more than $170 million in state and federal money, according to a Wisconsin State Journal review.

The task force joins an upcoming legislative audit that is also examining what went wrong with the projects and how the state can do better.

“Simply acknowledging the failures that left Wisconsin families with a bill for $170 million is not enough,” Speaker Mike Huebsch, R-West Salem, said in a statement. “This task force will look for answers about how this pattern of failures was allowed to develop, identify ways to prevent any more of them in the future, and hold state agencies accountable for wasting the taxpayers’ money.”

  1. I bet they get people with lots of experience on participating in task forces and blue ribbon commissions.

  3. How ‘bout recommending future projects be open sourced, just be sure to allow a “little” extra time.  Sure would come in under budget.  I know of a disaster response program out there that was developed like this.
