Horse Meat

Europe seems to be mired in controversy over horse meat.

A problem was identified with a supplier in Germany, H J Schypke, it said.

Two other German companies, Dreistem-Konserven and Vossko, have been accused of manufacturing products containing horsemeat. Both have also blamed their own suppliers.

As long as it’s properly labled and follows the same processing requirements as other kinds of meat, do you have a problem eating horse meat? I don’t. And there’s a lot of meat on those critters. And if you love horses, we’ve learned from cows, chickens, turkeys, etc… if you want more of them, then make them a dietary staple.

  1. No big deal.  I saw horse meat in a market in Florence in 2004.

I eat cow, chicken, fish, lamb, goat, deer, turkey, moose, bear, rattlesnake and mystery meat (in school).  Why not horse.

  2. The problem is, and you did not mention this from the article, is that they are mislabeling horse meat as beef.

  3. Horse meat should be sold for consumption in the US.  We have a very serious problem here since slaughter of horses was outlawed several years ago.
