Healthy Wisconsin to Return

Oh yeah… this proposal is coming back

The author of the Healthy Wisconsin universal health plan says he’ll try again to get it passed next year, even though his own party’s governor opposes it.

Sen. Jon Erpenbach, D-Waunakee, says he won’t run from what he believes, especially since his party now controls both houses of the Legislature.

  1. Bend over and grab your ankles. This one is gonna hurt…

Sad thing is once this is in - there will be no getting rid of it.

  2. No way this goes anywhere, no matter what Erpenbach believes.  The other Dems in the Senate who were uncomfortable with the original version and forced to support it will never let it see the light of day.

  3. Passing this would be the quickest way back to the minority that any party has ever seen. Erpenbach and the Madison caucus may be immune enough from challengers to propose stuff that this, but many Dems from other areas are not. Doyle would veto this in a second; he is after all up for re-election. I’d worry about this, but not too much.

  4. Let’s see ... we’re facing a minimum $5 BILLION deficit in the budget, so now is the perfect time to introduce a new $15+ BILLION spending measure.

    That makes sense.
