I’ve been receiving a higher volume of anonymous hate mail lately. It makes for high entertainment. Here’s one I received today (address redacted):
Wow. That’s a powerful argument. I’m convinced ![]()
H/she forgot MSNBC.
If the Post Office will deliver to you with just a name and a city, you’ve arrived. Don’t let it go to your head
.
As for your tormentor, the shibboleths are all there.
In other words Owen…you just don’t listen to enough big government, statist, brainwashing via NPR…
Shame on you.
Great Post!
We all know what progressive venom they spew on NPR and PBS. Hopefully we can cut the tax payers money out of their budget and hear less of them all
A postcard? That’s so last century!
In other words, Owen, stop worrying about the shut-down of representative democracy in Wisconsin…
Just “be more PBS”
It has a Milwaukee postmark, so at least it’s not from one of the F.I.B. 14.
The response from the left the past couple weeks is very instructive. There seems to be less dialogue and more intimidation factor here.
Whether the crew storming the Capitol, the union guys trying to physically stop the Wirch recall petition person yesterday or the Glenn Grothman incident.
I’m just sort of amazed that physical intimidation seems to be their number one choice of remedy here.
With postcard stamps costing significantly less than regular stamps while accomplishing (in the case) the same basic task, isn’t it unlikely that one of my fellow big-spending liberals sent this card?
Also, why does everything end in a question mark?
Yes, Steve Austin, “watch PBS” is terrifying.
Seriously - in your world, these protests (described by every police force that’s actually been there are almost unbelievably peaceful) = physical intimidation being the number one choice of remedy?
That said, Owen, I’m sorry you’re getting hate mail.
Oops - I apologize for the typos: I meant “described . . . AS almost unbelievably peaceful”
The usual, “you’re just stupid”. No surprise.
@Smiley: who do I believe about the “peaceful” demonstrations? You? Or my lyin’ eyes. I was there. I was in the midst of them. they were not only intimidating my side, but more than happy to use violence and the threat of violence. But don’t believe me. Stop in at YouTube and search “madison protest violence” or some such thing and you tell me.
I guess I’d ask Smiley if they approve of what happened to the person out getting signatures for the Wirch recall over the weekend. Where apparently a bunch of union trucks and people immediately closed in and blocked access. Where you have to run a gauntlet of people yelling at you in order to sign a simple petition.
Is that acceptable behavior? I’m sort of curious why the left can’t let each recall worker do their business in peace. What are they afraid of? That the Wirch recall person would get too many legitimate signatures otherwise?
The Left has taken this whole thing down a very slippery slope. And again for what? So that MPS teachers can have a $100,000 a year plus comp. package?
Show us the pic from the back side.

Huh. It’s from a book of postcards called “America Works Out:”
The American fascination with gymnastic exercise is nothing new, as can be seen in these 30 vintage black and white images. Here are images from the run of the 20th century through the 1980s, ranging from schoolchildren solemnly raising barbells to retirees doing calisthenics on a Miami beach, from Vice President Calvin Coolidge in the White House gym to bodybuilder Gene Jantzen teaching his toddler to do chin-ups. This postcard book is one of a series that collects beautifully reproduced images with cultural or historical significance, introduced with a short essay. Tear out the oversized cards and mail them (with first class postage), or put them up on the wall, or keep them intact as miniature art books.

Kinda neat.
If this is your definition of “Hate Mail” you may want to recalibrate the knee-jerk. It seems to be overly sensitive
and grumps and libs that like this, maybe you should listen to NPR cause I do believe Owen is a frequent guest on at least one of the shows. He gives a bit of sanity to the process.
I listen and watch those and in fact have NPR on #2 set in my radio in my truck. When asked I tell folks I am in comms and if you want to understand the enemy one must hear the message they put out. I cannot think of a better way to try to understand the liberal mindset than listening to npr. I also listen to the BBC broadcasts in the early mornings periodically on the way to work. One must see many sides in order to understand and you would be amazed at how similar and differant the BBC reports the same story.
Well if Owen is considered “knee jerk” by Grumps, I wonder how he would describe this?
Former NPR executive Ron Schiller slams Republicans and the tea party movement and suggests that NPR would be better off without any federal funding in a hidden-camera video released Tuesday by conservative filmmaker James O’Keefe.
I would agree with Schiller on the federal funding, but that’s it.
I haven’t listened to Wi PR for a while now. The app on my iphone (pocket tunes) seems to have lost all WPR stations. If someone knows of a station that works on that app, I’d love to know…
Can’t say I care for WPR that much - too much talk.
But, love the BBC. You actually get to hear what’s happening in the world.
