Sounds kind of hairy to me.
Hairdressers, pet groomers and farmers worldwide are collecting hair and fur to help mop up the devastating oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The hair, stuffed into nylon tights, helps booms soak up thick oil spewing from the blown-out well off Louisiana.
About 370,000 salons are taking part, said the charity organising the massive “hair lift”. Matter of Trust is largely co-ordinating its efforts via Facebook.
Some 450,000lbs (204,000kg) of hair and fur is said to being arriving each day.
Seriously - is this the best we can do? Gobs of hair? A giant box?? What’s next, 100,000 Sham-Wows??
ZZ TOP could save us
Actually here is a video showing how hay is very effective at cleaning up oil.

It has to be better then whatever chemical they are currently using that makes the oil sink. Its cheaper. It removes the oil instead of putting it on the sea bottom. And when its removed, the oil-hay can be used by certain types of burners to produce electricity or heat.
Plus, getting our hands on massive quantities of hay has to be easier then massive quantities of hair…...
Now pretend the mixing bowl is the Gulf of Mexico.
I just LOL’ed!
BP is also paying anyone with a 25 foot or larger boat $1500 a day to assist in the clean up.
Check out the Oil and Gas Career website here to see if they have any more openings in the clean up.
