Girl in Washington County Shot

I’ve driven that stretch of road a hundred times. 

A 16-year-old girl from Slinger was in critical condition Sunday after she was shot in the head by someone in a passing vehicle on Washington County Highway K just east of Highway 41 in the Town of Addison, authorities said.

The girl was in a vehicle heading west on the highway around 11 p.m. Saturday when someone in a passing westbound vehicle shot at her vehicle multiple times, according to a press release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

1. This is total speculation, but the story sounds like a case of road rage gone completely overboard. Hopefully the boys that were in the front seats will spill exactly what happened to the police. Such a tragic incident to happen to such a young girl. :(

Highway K must be like Washington County’s version of the “Bermuda Triangle”, considering what has happened there - those boys (one died) on bikes who got mowed down by a hit & run driver (who ditched his car and walked to a tavern in Slinger) & not that long ago near the intersection where this shooting happened, a registered sex offender was arrested for being nude at his mail box while a neighbor girl was coming home from school one afternoon.

3. I just have a funny feeling about this story.  It is not adding up to me, like I do not think it was road rage or a drive by random.  Something is not sitting right with me on this, and I am usually right on with my feelings (grew up in a police officer family).  What an eerie feeling though, that this happened not too far away from where I live as well, having driven that stretch many times (it’s a nice drive on the motorcycle!)

   My prayers go out to that young lady and her family and friends.  I hope this gets solved.

4. Probably right, Jodi, for what it’s worth, this is an update from MJS Online:

   Saturday night’s drive-by shooting in the Town of Addison that left a 16-year-old Slinger girl in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head was not a random act, Washington County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said today.

   ”Other residents don’t need to worry” that someone is driving around shooting at motorists, Schmidt said.

   Schmidt said it was unknown yet whether the three teens knew the person who fired the shots.

   ............................................

   Schmidt declined to elaborate further on the investigation, saying his department continues to interview people regarding the shooting.

   No one is in custody.

   Guess we’ll have to wait for the details - the sooner we hear, the better.

6. Yeah, when I got into my car this afternoon, I heard the news report about that, not being random. 
   About not worrying about someone not running around shooting everybody, heck, how do we know that?  ever hear about crossfire Schmidt?!
   Let’s see...... teenagers, shootings, could it be drugs???!!!
