Genocide?

Really?

These are folks protesting the mining bill that just passed the Wisconsin State Senate. You know… the bill that put some deadlines in place for regulatory bodies to approve or deny a permit without weakening any environmental protections. That equals genocide?

Real genocide is when thousands or millions of people are murdered. As in Armenia. Germany. Russia. Sudan. China. Etc. Those who try to equate mining legislation in little ol’ Wisconsin with genocide are blithering idiots worthy of nothing more than robust mocking.

  1. Absurd. Completely ridiculous. This is like a PETA protest, but worse.

On a positive note, take the idiots out of the picture, and that’s a beautiful photograph. I miss Madison sometimes…

  3. Oops, I meant to write mine instead of bill.

  4. Since a new iron mine equals genocide, then it is safe for me to assume that each person in this picture does not own a cell phone.  Every one of them walks everywhere they do, no use of car, bus, train, plane, or bicycle since those items are made of metals which are mined.  Every one of them lives in a wood cabin or Adobe hut with no electricity and uses wood fires in a stone pit for heat.  Modern life requires metals.  Unless every one of them lives a 1300’s agrarian life, then their protest is a farce.  Apparently, that IPad they like comes from magic.  Anyone naive enough to believe them should not be considered anything more than an infantile toddler.

  5. All the bill did is set a deadline and a dollar amount for approval/disapproval of a mine. That’s it. Genocide? Egad, you libs are something else.

  6. Unless every one of them lives a 1300’s agrarian life,

If this happened, the average liberal, taking advantage of government mooch, would starve.

Where this idea started that liberalism=compassion…its like trying to say Bill Clinton is a faithful husband.

  9. Wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of trout died if the mine is built, but as much as I would lament a big fish kill up north, the term genocide should be applied only to the deaths of human beings.

  10. You’re mistaking what they’re asking for. They’re not saying iron mines will cause a genocide of people, what they’re asking for is a genocide OF mines. They’d much rather that jobs and wealth go to folks out of this country than in ours.

  11. This image should be the poster image for what happens when a person/group takes their side of an argument to an extreme that is absurd.

It does not matter if someone is for/against/middle ground on mining legislation, for anyone who sees this protest….. this group makes that side of the argument look stupid.

  12. I guess Julie Lassa will be spamming us with this shortly.  She already sent one out that was similar.  Not really upholding the creed of the Dairy Princess.
