Fond du Lac Looks to Expand Smoking Ban to Bars

If you live in Fond du Lac, you might want to go to the council meeting tonight.

Fond du Lac has already banned smoking in restaurants. Now the city is considering a ban on smoking in bars.

City council members are scheduled to vote on the measure tonight and have little else on their agenda.

Ban opponents have organized a rally, have distributed fliers and orchestrated a letter-writing campaign. They’ve argued that a ban would harm business at bars that are already struggling.

  1. The smoking ban crowd dont care if your bar looses money.
I have a good friend who lives in winona mn. they past a law banning smoking in bars and restaraunts. On sundays he and his girlfriend go to a bar and eat on sundays.
after the bill passed the bar has about half of the customers that they used to have. he said you can tell the change.
Lacrosse is working on banning smoking also.
I dont smoke but do smoke cigars and i would never ban smoking cigaretes in bars.
its a freedom issue for me
if i didnt smoke cigars i still wouldnt like the ban.

  2. I don’t go to bars, because I hate the smoke. But - isn’t it up to the OWNER of the bar if he/she wants to let people smoke in his/her bar?

Just like it’s up to me whether I allow someone to smoke in my house?

  3. There are some bars who designate a smoking area outside the bar for smokers. Although this would not be feasible for most, it is the best thing that they can offer now than risk losing their customers.
