...Boots & Sabers was born.
It started on a whim. Jed started the blog and asked me if I wanted to give it a shot. “Sure! why not?” Well, now I know the answer to that question, but it’s been an enjoyable ride. We switched from Movable Type to Expression Engine a while in, so our stats are tough to nail down exactly. But over the past five years we’ve covered roughly 12,749 posts, 61,467 comments, and 20 million hits.
Thanks for stopping by folks. I don’t know why the seven of you keep coming back, but we’re glad you do.
Time flies, doesn’t it? Congratulations.
Posted by Recess Supervisor on May 23, 2008 at 0234 hrsCongratulations! Hope it keeps up for at least another 5 years. This blog is a daily read for me.

Thanks to you two and Wendy for your posts.
Happy blogiversary guys and Wendy.

Posted by Billiam on May 23, 2008 at 0852 hrsHow many of those 20M hits were from the seven regular visitors?
Happy fifth! I always find something interesting here.
Jed started the blog
Jed who?
Happy B-Day, dude….you don’t look a day over 4.
Posted by Pete Fanning on May 23, 2008 at 0945 hrsSeven? Stop being so modest. We can all count, there’s sixteen, and you know it.
Congrats on five years, here’s to arguing, er I mean respectfully debating, with you for five more.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on May 23, 2008 at 0958 hrsHow am I supposed to get the traditional wood gift through the intertubes getting splinters on the other sites? Congrats and keep up the great work.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on May 23, 2008 at 1156 hrsCongratulations, and thanks for hosting us with civility.
20 million hits is impressive. You should celebrate the 30 millionth hit with a prize for the lucky visitor… maybe a pair of official Boots and Sabers pants?, or a free NRA membership?
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on May 23, 2008 at 1307 hrsIt’s the free beer. Otherwise I wouldn’t come here.
Bleers!
(instead of cheers . . . ? No? Sorry)
or a free NRA membership?
You liberals… always wanting something for free…
Congrats Owen, Wendy and Jed. Its been a nice read even now that I’m in Michigan I can keep tabs on how badger state is doing.
And 3rd way, I’ll give you some free ammo but you will have to catch it at 3000fps (300mag)....
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on May 23, 2008 at 1445 hrsThat’s quite an accomplishment. Congratulations!

Threatening to shoot someone really isn’t funny.

Actually, it depends on what your seeing in your scope.
Lighten up, or go back to DailyKos
Owen, Jed, and Wendy, congrats, and here’s hoping for 20 more years. Imagine what we will be blogging about in 20 years. I would guess it will be the oncoming Ice Age!!!

Posted by k2aggie07 on May 23, 2008 at 1850 hrsYou guys are just lucky that you don’t live in Whitewater. You’ve done such a good job that you’d have been arrested by now and your 5 year anniversary would have been for something else.
Posted by Steve Burri on May 23, 2008 at 2048 hrsCongrats! I’m not surprised you have lasted this long…you put out a quality product! One of my few daily reads.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on May 23, 2008 at 2115 hrsI’ll add my congratulations, too. You guys are about 6 months and 20 million hits ahead of me
