Wow.
John Myers set the self-timer on his camera and hustled into the frame with his wife and two children Saturday. While their backs were turned, someone grabbed their bag, which held Myers’ wallet, cash, credit cards and other items.
After Myers noticed that the bag was missing, he checked his camera. Sure enough, the image showed a man picking up their bag.
Police officers recognized the man. When they spotted him nearby, he was carrying the bag.
What is this “film” to which you refer?
If you look at the picture, you can see the mom has her purse behind her (and the child that seems to old to pickup for a picture). Why would the guy set his bag down so far away? Why not set it with the purse? Also, why would anyone not carry their wallet, room keys, and credit cards in a pocket?
It just seems like these people were asking for trouble.
Not to mention its a stupid picture- what are they even trying to capture here? “Look honey, make gang signs while we stand 40 feet from the capitol and our bags and we’ll have a great christmas card of us and a door.”
Too bad the guy got caught.
Why wouldn’t you put your backpack by the camera taking the picture? Who in their right mind sets up a camera for a picture and then places a bag with their valuables in a completely different location.
On a style note, what stupid suit.
Too bad the guy got caught.
The family may have been stupid, but that’s not an excuse to steal. Or are you guys (KoKo and Bakersfield) the type of people who think that anything is yours for the taking if it’s no locked up?
The loser shithead who stole their bag is just the type of asshole who has probably gotten away with stealing for decades. I’m glad he was caught. He’s worthless pile of dogshit.
I do not condone the stealing of the guy. I never said or implied I did.
However, I still say these people are asking for trouble.
David, with the amount of angst, it sounds as if you have been the victim of a similar crime. If that is the case, I am sorry if you interpreted my criticism of the actions of these people as a judgment on all victims of theft.
Here is a larger point. Do you like the story’s outcome? This makes the case for having more cameras all over recording in public areas, right? Think of all the crimes that could be solved! Would it be good if the police/government had the cameras and recorded everything? Or, is it just a nice story because it was a privately owned camera that solved a crime?
You like the idea of cameras stopping crimes being committed against you like stealing. However, you don’t like cameras that catch you violating traffic laws for example?
