Fact Checking Obama

I knew there was a reason that I didn’t believe what he was telling us.

President Barack Obama told Americans the bipartisan deficit commission he will appoint won’t just be “one of those Washington gimmicks.” Left unspoken in that assurance was the fact that the commission won’t have any teeth.

Obama confronted some tough realities in his State of the Union speech Wednesday night, chief among them that Americans are continuing to lose their health insurance as Congress struggles to pass an overhaul.

[...]

The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than 1 percent of the deficit — and that’s if the president can persuade Congress to go along.

[...]

Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign — to have the negotiations for health care legislation broadcast on C-SPAN “so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies.”

It goes on.

  1. Yep, Obama has sure broken a lot of promises that he campaigned (and got elected) on. I’m sure that is a big reason that his approval ratings have dropped.

Of course, those promises that got him elected were promises to enact liberal policies. His failure to live up to his liberal promises hasn’t won him any Republican support, but it sure has hurt him with his base and especially with independents.

  2. Of course, the fact checkers missed the point that since the Democrats increased spending in the departments that would be frozen, the so-called freeze is a chimera.

  3. Of course, those promises that got him elected were promises to enact liberal policies.

I think the average independent Obama voter 14 months ago didn’t fully understand that ‘hope and change’ meant socializing health care, implementing cap-n-tax to combat a ghost, wasting $1,000,000,000,000.00, among other items…

Now that the independents are frightened of these attempts at socialization ... they are changing their minds…

  5. I am disappointed also in Obama.

Disappointed that he wasted time trying to build a consensus with obstructionists like Owen and his crowd.

Given a chance-they rammed their agenda down our throats in 2001 without pretending to care what the majority of Americans voted for.

He has a majority-use it.Anything he does will be criticized by the majority on these pages.

George Bush was right-consensus building is for sissies.
