Election Day Open Thread

Have at it folks.

What number were you where you voted?  See any last minute campaign shenanigans?  Any predictions on outcomes?  Any other comments?

I voted at about 9:45 this morning.  I was #136.  That’s pretty good for my polling place.  It looks like turnout is good in West Bend so far.

  1. I showed up to my polling place in downtown Milwaukee at 7:45AM and the signs were up foll the election, but the doors were locked and I couldn’t see anyone inside.  I thought all the polling places at the city opened at 7AM.  This had not been a problem in the past.

I will have to try again after work.

  2. I voted at 9:07 and was number 253 in the village of Jackson.  I have also noticed that One of our local school board candidates has illegal yard signs.  They do not tell who paid for them.  I believe that is required by law.

  3. I was #82 at 8:10.  WB School referendum on the ballot, it should be busy.

  6. I was number 128 by mid-afternoon at my polling place.

I gave them my last name (Johnson), but when they asked me for the spelling, I told them, “Johnson…with a Q.”

A photo ID law would have prevented that awkward, yet funny, moment.

  7. I was #101 at 10:30am in the Town of Holland. Apparently we have an electronic voting machine now, but I passed on that and did the ballot instead.

  14. I voted last week at WB City Hall.  No lines.  Awesome.

Prediction:  Both WB school referenda fail, but by a thinner margin than last time.  DPI - Fernandez in a squeaker.  WSC - Abrahamson 52/48.  MMMC - Cain 65/35.

  15. I think the second question will be very close, but both will fail.

Evers will win by too much, Abrahamson 60-40.  I don’t have a feel for the Cain/Grundahl thing.  And as the only candidate opposed to the referendum, Stepanski will win one of the seats on the school board.

  16. Predictions:  Both ref’s will bite the dust - buh bye.  Fernandez will surprise us with a superior lead over Dvers.  Abrahamson will be purchasing plane tickets for a nice long permanent vacation.  Cain will edge Grundahl with a small margin.  Stepanski will stomp the other candidates.

  17. According to the Journal-Sentinel, Abrahamson and Evers have won with zero precincts reporting.  They also have declared that the WB referenda have failed, again, with zero precincts reporting.

  18. If you go to TMJ4’s website, there is a fat red checkmark that keeps rolling over in front of the word NO for the referendum questions…  LOLOL!  Guess JS is not much better.  If anyone has a better website for returns, let me know.
