Eerily Familiar

Barack Obama’s speech sounds quite similar to Deval Patrick’s speech from a couple of years ago.

  1. I have a good friend in Massachusetts who just loves Patrick.

  2. Well, if you are running on generalizations and peppy slogans, there are only so many ways to say things so I wouldn’t be that concerned that Obama sounds like others.  I don’t hate Obama like I do Clibushtons, it is just that we have no idea what we are getting with Obama.  I do understand the thirst for change.  If you were very thirsty and blindfolded you would probably drink from a glass handed to you by a stranger if it smelled ok, wouldn’t you?

At least Obama is for tax transparency and would work to close loopholes.  Can he really spend at a faster rate than Bush has?

  3. Patrick endorsed Senator Obama.  Maybe he gave him the idea????

  4. Somehow I think we’re all missing the point intended to be communicated by the video creator (and obliquely by Owen):  Obama is a fraud!  He ripped off the speech!

I’d much rather talk about issues.  But I think what we’re going to get from the GOP this election is:

    1.  TerrorismIraq, TerrorismIraq, TerrorismIraq!

    2.  We want victory, Democrats want defeat!

    3.  Terrorists like Democrats—and vice-versa.

    4.  Did you know Barack Obama’s middle name is HUSSEIN??  You know what THAT means…

    5.  Did you know he is an anti-Semite?

    6.  Democrats want to replace your doctor with a pencil-necked gubmint bureaucrat!

  5. Right, because negative ads about Obama aren’t from Clintonites right now they are still somehow from the GOP.

  7. I think they both plagiarized Chris Farley from the movie Black Sheep - his performance at the “Rock the Vote” rally.

  8. Sorry Owen,
Big non-scandal here. It turns out that Gov. Patrick is working with the Obama campaign and shared language from his campaign with Mr. Obama’s speechwriters.

  9. As much of a non-scandal as it is, Obama said he thinks he should have given him credit, and it was his rival’s campaign that started the mess over the rip-off today (and continues to pump the media). Permission on not, using it seems very uninspiring.

  10. In slightly more interesting news, Michelle Obama has never been proud of the USA…until her husband started running for President.

  11. Everyone just pretend there’s an “R” after his name.

    No scandal anymore, is there.

I’m hearing the two are close and have a shared speechwriter.

At worst this was a dumb mistake.

Whether there’s an “R” or a “D” after his name.

  12. Same speech. Obama sounds better though. I’ll let it pass. Anyway, they’re on the same side.
