Eau Claire Dems Call For Wineke to Step Down

Meanwhile on the other side of the aisle...

Members of the Wisconsin Democratic Party are calling on their chairman to resign because he is being paid to lobby on behalf of A-T and T.

But Chairman Joe Wineke says he does not intend to step down or stop lobbying.

The Eau Claire County Democrats passed a resolution last week calling on Wineke to resign as chairman because of his lobbying work on a controversial cable competition bill.

A resolution passed last week by Wood County Democrats says Wineke needs to either serve as chairman or an A-T and T lobbyist, but not both.

Eau Claire County Democratic Party Chairwoman Katy Phillips says Wineke’s lobbying for the bill gives the appearance that the party supports it, but not all Democrats do.

Wineke says party members knew he would be working as a lobbyist and he sees nothing wrong with it. He is running unopposed for another two-year term as the party’s head.
