Apparently Doyle doesn’t like people asking questions about his pet project.
Oconomowoc was to be one of three intermediate stops between downtown Milwaukee and downtown Madison on a planned $810 million rail line. Stations are also slated for Brookfield and Watertown. Starting in 2013, the train would offer six round trips daily between Wisconsin’s two largest cities, although not all trains would stop at the smaller stations.
In a letter Tuesday to Oconomowoc Mayor James Daley, state Transportation Secretary Frank Busalacchi said the city had expressed support for a station since 2000, and had been included in the train plans on that basis.
But after an Aug. 2 workshop in Oconomowoc, Busalacchi wrote, “You have indicated you no longer have interest in a station in the city of Oconomowoc. . . . Due to the lack of interest by the city, we are discontinuing further discussions on a planned station in Oconomowoc.”
Oconomowoc officials said Wednesday they were surprised by the decision. Gard said she and Daley have no idea why state DOT officials believe Oconomowoc was not interested in a station.
The mayor and city staffers have been asking DOT officials about the costs of building and operating the station and had been seeking clarification about what costs, if any, taxpayers might have to pick up, Gard said.
Of course, if they ever build this train, Oconomowoc will be better off without a station.
We can only hope the other potential stops/stations as k questions too.
The only train going to Madison is the Walker train. When it does arrive we can put a stop to all this foolishness.
Sounds like Daley needs a good communications director. I bet he could get Jill Bader for a song and dance.
Typical Doyle petty move…
“What - they are asking questions? F*** them. - Frank pull the station”
“Yes sir, Jim”
Doesn’t matter - this train isn’t getting built anyway.
Hell, if that’s all it takes to kill this idiotic proposal weshould all get vocal and flood the Governors office with questions.
Busalacchi-One a corrupt union thug, always a corrupt union thug.
