Doubling the Dane County Sales Tax

Just a reminder… the proposed state tax hikes are not the only ones...

For the Regional Transit Authority to move forward, state approval and federal funding would be necessary, as well as a doubling of the county sales tax.

I’d give a ‘D’ to anyone asked to summarize this story who 1) didn’t mention the size of the tax (currently 1/2%, doubling to 1%) and 2) that it would need to go to referendum and 3) that they said it’s contingent on the County receiving Federal transit funds. ...  Unless of course we’re just playing an online game where every time a proposed tax increase pops up, we all shout “Boo!”.
