UPDATE: The camera is a Nikon D300 (12.3 megapixels), and the lens for these shots is a Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR.  I have to use a telephoto to get decent pics of the dogs because if I come close, they won’t stand still.  It’s the same model of which Glenn Reynolds has been singing praises, and I would certainly agree at this point.  I would note, however, that the pics look even better in person—I have to lower the quality to get them to a manageable size for upload to the blog.

A few more shots below the fold.

  3. Nice looking camera, was just checking the review at dpreview.  While the lens is a little slow, it’s got a great range from 70 to 300.  I guess the VRII might help adjust for the f/4.5.

    Nice pictures too.

  4. I also have a new D300.  Boy do I love it.  Check out these shots I took at the zoo a couple weekends a go.
