Dems Propose More Spending to Fix Budget Shortfall

Only the Dems could propose a budget fix that not only includes increasing taxes, but more spending!

The Senate Democrats’ plan for solving the state’s budget shortfall includes a tax on hospitals and the closing of tax loopholes corporations use.

It also would authorize a car rental tax increase to pay for a three-county rail line.

Emphasis mine.

  1. Actually, that’s increasing taxes to increase spending to justify increasing taxes some more.

  3. But the liberals think this is a good idea- tax and tax.  That is why I meet so many people from Wisconsin, who have moved to Las Vegas from Wisconsin.  It’s not just not the weather folks, it is the taxes, or lack of taxes that drive so many people out Wisconsin to other states.
At our school, of about 150 teachers, 9 are from Wisconsin.  That is true through out the school district.

  4. Lena Taylor is one of the 6 Democrats on the committee to vote for the tax increase of $559 million dollars.

Can you imagine what she will do with taxes if she were to be Milwaukee County Executive?

  5. It doesn’t really seem any stranger than the idea of cutting taxes to raise revenue, that longtime shibboleth of supply side economics.  grin

I’ll put it in simpler terms; the drive to the #1-taxed locale in the world would continue unabated under the Rats’ plan.

Or, if your head wasn’t already spinning, I would point out that the original RTA portion of the car rental tax went to lobby the Legislature to increase that tax.

  10. Jim Doyle and company must think they are Moses - because they are leading what will be a huge exodus from Wisconsin.

  11. Maybe you missed that the only senator to offer a spending motion during the committee hearing on the senate plan was Sen. Kananvas, a Republican.  His amendment would have spent almost $1 million and of course contained no way to pay for it.  Seems like that’s how Bush and the federal Republicans got us deficits as far as the eye could see.  Spend spend spend, and don’t even try to figure out how to pay for it.  Put it on the credit card.
