Dems Crossing Over?

This story suggests that Democrats may crossover in fairly large numbers in order to sway the Republican primary election in the 20th Senate District.  This race is between the incumbent moderate, Mary Panzer, and conservative challenger, Glenn Grothman.

I think that the paper may be off target here.  What I have heard is that the Democrats are focusing on their own race.  There is a write-in challenger in the Dem primary.  Uhlig is already on the ballot.  The thinking is that the Dems may have a chance at the seat if Grothman wins the Republican primary.  The Dems think that Grothman is “extreme” and “right-wing,” which in their minds make him vulnerable in the general election.  So the Dems are taking a hard look at their choices and trying to come up with the candidate that will have the best chance of defeating Grothman.  If Panzer wins the primary, then they don’t have any chance at all, in their minds.

By the Dems’ logic, if they want any chance of taking the 20th Senate District away from the Republicans, they should crossover and vote for Grothman.

UPDATE:  Oops.  I got my races mixed up.  Uhlig is running for the 58th Assembly District seat.  The write-in for the 20th Senate District is the only Dem candidate.  She needs enough signatures in the Primary to get on the ballot at all.  So, the Democratic Party is trying to get their members to write in their candidate rather than crossover so that they can have a challenger for the Republican.
