Decker = Chvala Lite

Heh.

Decker said he still talks to Chvala, and that they hunt deer together. He said he also still talks to Republican former Assembly Speaker John Gard, whom he considers a friend.

Decker said his political discussions with Chvala have been more about the presidential campaign than anything else. “That was before the (Wisconsin) primary, ” Decker said. “Who ‘s going to win? Edwards was still in the mix then. Which way is the country going to go? “

Asked if he and Chvala discuss state government policy and politics, Decker said, “Nah. We talk an awful lot about the Packers. “

Chvala wouldn ‘t comment.

UPDATE: Hmmmm… an alert reader points out that Chvala is a convicted felon and is forbidden from using firearms.  Am I to assume that Chvala and Decker were bow hunting?

UPDATE2: Senator Decker’s office says that the reporter misquoted him and that he and Chvala do not hunt together any more.

  1. Hey Chuck- please tell us what you deer hunt with.  Since you are a convicted felon, you cannot own or use a firearm.

  2. 941.29(8)
    (8) This section does not apply to any person specified in sub. (1) (bm) if a court subsequently determines that the person is not likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety. In any action or proceeding regarding this determination, the person has the burden of proving by a preponderance of the evidence that he or she is not likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety.

    I would think this would be a relatively easy hurdle given what his conviction was for.

  3. Damn it “Lefty”.  Thought we might get the “slug”!  He being a lawyer probably has all the bases covered.

  4. Oh, how NICE it would be to see him hoisted on a gun control law!

    One highly placed member of the WCCA is fully convinced that, had we made a “contribution” to Chuck’s campaign in the neighborhood of $30K, Wisconsin would have had concealed carry before Doyle ever became a problem.

    Think it would be possible to have him nailed under federal firearms laws?

  5. The reporter misquoted Russ on that issue.  They used to hunt deer together, but haven’t done so in years.
