KABUL, Afghanistan (AP)—A military helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan, killing 31 U.S. special operation troops, most of them from the elite Navy SEALs unit that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, along with seven Afghan commandos. It was the deadliest single incident for American forces in the decade-long war.
The Taliban claimed they downed the helicopter with rocket fire while it was taking part in a raid on a house where insurgents were gathered in the province of Wardak late Friday. It said wreckage of the craft was strewn at the scene. A senior U.S. administration official in Washington said the craft was apparently shot down by insurgents. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the crash is still being investigated.
Yah, well, I’m inclined to agree with those who speculate that ISI/Paki tipped off the Taliban/Al-Q on this one, given the passenger manifest.
ADDED:
You all recall who it was who announced to the world that it was ST-6 which did in Osama, of course.
Yup. Joe “the crack(ed)-head” Biden
President Obama needs to pay attention to what his Presidency is doing to this nation and the world.
Here at home, we all are worrying about the unemployment and instability of the financial markets, but now we must start to worry about the growing racial tensions that appear to be growing in our cities.
As a witness of the race riots in the sixties, I paid attention to the reports of a riot at the Wisconsin State Fair on Thursday night that was reported to be racially motivated.
I went to the fair on Saturday to see for myself if it had an impact and saw that there were very few minorities as compared to other years at the fair. It is my hope that all the hard work to pull people together to solve the problems of this nation are not being torn apart by procrastination of our President.
After leaving the fair we went to a mall that is usually very busy with people of all races and found it to be a desolate marketplace. It appeared that all the stores were well staffed but with nothing to do but play on their phones and listen to music on their i pods. Usually its hard to find help at many stores but it was almost annoying to be asked so many times if we need help to find anything. Mr. President, please make sure we do not lose even more jobs!
It dawned on me that we as a nation might be starting to realize something that President Obama’s wife probably has known for a long time. That he can talk a good line and be the nice guy but when it comes to making decisions he sits on his hands and hopes that someone else does it for him. If that is true, I hope President Obama pays attention because I think his wife enjoys being first lady and doesn’t want him to screw it up for her. It would be my guess that the truth may set him free if she is unhappy with him. Mr. President, you must make the hard decisions as did the previous Presidents including P. Lincoln.
To top things off, I heard it reported that the Democrats are proposing higher taxes for everyone, which will certainly make matters worse. It was also reported that Speaker Boehner released a statement about not making cuts. It appears to me that they are telling you the ball is in your court and that it will be your plan that the American people will either support or oppose.
It also appears that President Obama must present his plan to the nation that he claimed will make him the great uniter. After going through his campaign, the bail outs, the health care legislation and numerous other controversies, I think he must change the tone of the debate to something that people can get behind. It is my hopeful expectation that he knows exactly what he is doing but I hope he is paying attention to the financial markets, the retail markets and racial tensions that hopefully pressure him to fulfill his campaign promise.
