Seriously? Gregory!?!? One of the most partisan hacks in the national media? Well, I guess I’ll find something else to watch.
NBC is in advanced negotiations with David Gregory to become the moderator of “Meet the Press” and could announce the move as early as Sunday, when Tom Brokaw hopes to wind up his temporary stint on the program, according to network executives familiar with the situation.
How about Brokaw?
I only caught a little of it today, but what was the deal with Brokaw telling our President Elect to raise taxes on gas because American consumers can’t be trusted. If anyone has the clip I would like to see it again to make sure that’s what I saw. It Appears if this was right that SUVs are being bought left and right by the ignorant American masses. Not sure why the Janesville plant is closing and the Big Three are in trouble???
We were all worried about the Democrats in Congress pulling Barak Obama to the left. The real worry is the Media pulling him to the left as if he needed any help at all. The special interests that get someone elected always wants control. This will be no exception.
I miss Tim

Personally, I would’ve preferred Chuck Todd. But come on - Russert worked for Moynihan and Cuomo before moving into journalism. Whatever you’d say about Gregory you probably would’ve said about Russert when he took over MTP. Hell, you probably would’ve said worse since Russert was actually employed by Democrats once upon a time.
Russert had more in common biographically with George Stephanopoulos than any of the great journalists, and he turned out just fine. Perhaps you should give Gregory a month or two before you hastily pass judgment.

That’s all well and good, but isn’t Gregory, as part of the MSM already supposed to be non-partisan and failed?
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on December 08, 2008 at 0851 hrsHe’s not a partisan hack just because he was about the only member of the White House press corps to ask for a straight answer once in a while. Emphasize once in a while; he didn’t do it all that often.
I don’t know who I’d want in that chair, though. If we could just get more substantive work and less of the obsession with shallow, horse-race/process coverage, I’d want whoever could give us that.

But NBC hasn’t been interested in ratings for some time now. Or journalistic integrity. Picking Gregory further contributes to the decay of both.

Same schizzle, differnt smell.
When Brokaw “moderated” the debate I had forgotten how much I didn’t miss him.
Posted by (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on December 08, 2008 at 1743 hrsTodd sucks. Gregory can’t talk without only the left side of his mouth moving. Russert was a very good journalist and he will be hard to replace - but there has to be someone better than this.

What’s next? Brian Cashman complaining about the high price of free agents?
