Curious Job Posting

Hmmmm....

The Civil Rights Division encourages qualified applicants with targeted disabilities to apply. Targeted disabilities are deafness, blindness, missing extremities, partial or complete paralysis, convulsive disorder, mental retardation, mental illness, severe distortion of limbs and/or spine.

I’m sure that Rahm Emanuel would oppose “f***ing retarded” people being attorneys for the U.S. government, but…

  1. Dan over at the Las Vegas Badger wrote a good post on why it is not appropriate to use the word “retard” (which I agree with) & I recall that awhile back, some of our local liberal bloggers ripped Owen a new one for using the term.

That being said, I can’t but laugh quietly in my sleeve with the knowledge that Rahm Emanuel was referring to some liberal Democrats.  Choice of words may have been inappropriate, but I share his sentiments.

  2. It looks like that term is catching back on. Limbaugh’s been throwing it around, too.

  3. A couple of things:

    1) insert the joke of your choice about mental retardation being no impediment to earning a law degree.

    2) Just the fact that Rush Limbaugh is using the term is enough to keep me from ever using it, although I am partial to f***tard.
