Cooling Trend?

I thought the science was settled?

This headline may come as a bit of a surprise, so too might that fact that the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998.

But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.

And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise.

So what on Earth is going on?

Go read the article.  It gives a good synopsis of the various theories out there.

  1. “So what on Earth is going on?”

    Nothing.

Try looking at the sun. You know that big huge ball of burning gas and fusion.

  2. It is not going to go up every year.  It is about trends.

  3. The really important point is that our climate models did not predict the current situation.

Since all the proposed actions are largely based on these models, should we not be taking a second look?

Does the recent trend mean the earth will not be warmer in 2100?  No.  But that means that it must be accepted that the trend of the late 20th century may be meaningless also.

  4. Yeah - long term trends…  How about that warm trend in the middle ages that allowed Greenland to actually be green with farms and vineyards to grow in the UK.  Before the little Ice Age around the Renaissance?

All of them without a coal plant or SUV in sight.

Being a good steward - especially with real pollution is a good thing.  Nobody wants the Cuyahoga to start on fire again.  But CO2 is NOT a pollutant.

Its all about a power grab.  Follow the money and you will find those that stand to make the most from “Climate Change” are those that are pushing it the strongest.
