Wow. Talk about deflection. In response to Dan Bice’s article showing that Milwaukee County Supervisor Elizabeth Coggs has been signing off on hundreds of thousands of dollars for a consultant of uncertain value, she replied with this.
“The article provided slanted one-sided coverage of two Milwaukee County contracts. It’s evident that the author chose to focus on one consultant while ignoring the many other consultants who do business with Milwaukee County. It’s clear that articles like these are written by individuals who do not live in my district and are unfamiliar with the dire straits currently being experienced by my constituents. They do not walk in the shoes of men and women of color seeking employment. Although a few of my colleagues on the County Board are out of touch with urban unemployment, many Supervisors do understand we are beyond recession. My inner-city district is in a full-fledged depression.”

“As civil rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer once said, ‘I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.’ Disenfranchisement continues in 2009. The major players in Milwaukee continue to ignore the disparities for individuals of color, especially men and those who have been incarcerated. There is a great amount of need in the community. We’re trying to develop solutions to the unemployment problem. The newspaper fails to play a role in solving these problems and instead chooses to undermine these efforts by manufacturing controversy.”
That’s an impressive attempt to (a) point the finger at other questionable consultants as if that makes it OK, (b) slam the newspaper for reporting the news, and (c) playing the race card.
Here’s the whole release.
But here’s the key Question
Does Michael Steele consider what Randal gets paid for to be a Job?
What happened to hope and change? The One is in - I thought everything would be better and he’d be paying my mortgage and car payments…
I went to School with Lizzy. She has been pulling this crap for over 25 years. She must be brighter than I remembered her because she still hasn’t run out of people who fall for (or put up with) her BS.
If the consultant had to spend a week in DC with her to get his $12,500 for the month, he earned every penny.
she may have tipped the hat if we had any fiscal conservatives in Milwaukee. She says that what she is doing is the norm and so I say go over the books and throw the dead weight overboard. Save the parks and schools and whatnot with all the money saved. Also, I have a question. Why is it that we have so many consultants? Is it really that impossible to hire people to do their job? What exactly do these consultants do? The school system is a perfect example. The teachers and administrators have to live where they work so how is hiring a consultant from Chicago or where ever supposed to be “...familiar with the dire straits currently being experienced by my constituents.”?
