Clinton Has Better Chance Against McCain Than Obama

Those body blows that Clinton keeps throwing are starting to wear on Obama

Hillary Rodham Clinton has a better chance than Barack Obama of beating Republican John McCain, according to a new Associated Press-Ipsos poll that bolsters her argument that she is more electable in the fall than her rival for the Democratic nomination.

The survey released Monday gives Clinton a fresh talking point as she works to convince pivotal undecided superdelegates to side with her in the drawn-out Democratic primary fight.

Clinton, who won the Pennsylvania primary last week, has gained ground this month in a hypothetical head-to-head match up with the GOP nominee-in-waiting; she now leads McCain, 50 percent to 41 percent, while Obama remains virtually tied with McCain, 46 percent to 44 percent.

  1. The latest poll by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center tells a much different story.

In a head-to-head matchup with Hillary Rodham Clinton, McCain was favored by 47% of those polled, compared to 44% for Clinton, according to the latest installment of the Badger Poll. Meanwhile, Democrat Barack Obama topped McCain by a 48% to 41% margin.

  3. All of these polls are meaningless at this point.

It is like asking a fickle teenager girl who they are going to go to prom with a year before the dance.

I will start to pay attention to the polls the week after the first head to head debate.  The Dem lead will be much larger by then.

  4. If this is the best McCain can do at this point with both of the Dems tied up you’d better keep clinging to your audacity of hope.

  5. Funny how often polls change from meaningful to meaningless.

I get the feeling it may depend on whether the poll supports one’s position or not…

    Nah.

  6. I personally think if Obama wins the nomination the Democrats can kiss the White House good-bye.

That said, I’ve been wrong before, and I’d rather have Hillary in there than Obama, so go, Hillary, go! sick
