Chrysler to Invest in Kenosha Plant

Here’s some good news for Wisconsin.

Chrysler announced Monday it will make a major investment in its Kenosha Engine Plant so it can manufacture the company’s next generation of V-6 engines.

The efforts are part of the struggling automaker’s restructuring plan, which includes a $3 billion investment in powertrains.

Chrysler will announce how much it is spending to overhaul the plant on Wednesday, when company executives, along with state and local officials are expected to appear there. About 850 people work at the Kenosha plant.

  1. That IS big, good news.

There was speculation that the new-generation V6 would be built at another plant, perhaps offshore.

The guys in Kenosha have worked hard (and well) to produce for Chrysler.  Good to see that it paid off.

  2. It’s worth noting that the Kenosha plant is a former American Motors plant. It was cash flow issues from the AMC buyout which created the need for the so-called bailout of Chrysler, which did not in fact tranfer money form the taxpayers to the automaker.

  3. Yay, one of the worst performing car companies is investing in Wisconsin! At least it’s not GM :p
