Case Against McGee Gets Even Stronger
Let’s hope for a speedy trial so it’s done before the election.
One of the criminal cases against jailed Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee Jr. tightened its focus to McGee alone Thursday as the second of his two alleged accomplices pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors.
Little Al Stewart II cut a deal to plead guilty to plotting with McGee and Dimitrius Jackson to have a suspected burglar of Stewart’s home beaten, wiretaps of which prompted investigators to abruptly arrest McGee in May during the middle of an ongoing corruption investigation.
McGee is still in jail awaiting trial on the array of criminal charges that have unfolded: two felony counts in the beating plan and 10 more charges for an alleged vote-buying scheme in Milwaukee County court, along with shakedown charges pending in federal court. He is also up for re-election in the spring.
I can’t think of any other alderman that’s provided as much entertainment as McGee Jr. has these last few years. :D
