This statement is idiotic and insulting.
Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act “based on racism” and rooted in fears of a black president.
“I think it’s based on racism,” Carter said at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. “There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.”
The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing trend directed at the president that has included demonstrators equating Obama to Nazi leaders.
Yes, there are racists who don’t like Obama for his black half. Yes, folks have compared Obama to Hitler - as has almost every president in the modern-era at this point. It is not a sign of racism.
The fact is that this nation elected Obama. In other words, a MAJORITY of people who voted voted for him. And now a MAJORITY of people oppose many of the policies he is advocating. How can 30%+ of the country go from electing Obama to drooling racists in less than a year? Could it be that people actually oppose his policies?
Carter is insulting a great number of Americans and cheapening the debate over extremely serious policy issues.
The funny thing is, this reflexive “you’re a racist if you oppose Obama” rhetoric from liberals is going to hurt their cause. Obama is losing Independents by the bushel and you don’t lure them back to your side by calling them racists for daring to oppose a politician.
The worst president ever defending the 2nd worst president ever, but working on being the worst. Priceless.
Carter is insulting. Period. I’ve also never heard the word racist thrown around so much as by many on the Left since Obama announced his candidacy. It’s disgraceful.
Reactions like Carter’s were predictable. It was clear during the campaign that if elected, ANY opposition to The Anointed One would be racist. If he had not been elected, it would have been because the country is full of racist pigs. If anyone says that any of Barry’s ideas are bad, the questioner is a racist pig. That’s why the dems went nuts about him. They knew that they had the big trump card to play no matter what.
Why do people listent to Carter?
Pulling the race card shows they have lost the argument on the basis of logic and facts. They need to redirect the conversation so they will not be exposed.
Let’s all put on a sweater and make everything okay!
Carter was a pathetic hack when he was in office and has only degenerated with age. His insipid remarks are nothing more than an attempt to silence the ever growing din of discontentment by those who are finally becoming aware of the drastic mistake that was made during last November’s election. This isn’t about race, it’s about the direction this president is trying to take this country, and the people aren’t going to allow it. Carter is just showing how little regard he has for the Constitution, and the people of this country.
Carter like Obama was a media selected incompetent, chosen for his radicalism. Carter was a terrible president. Therefore it follows that he would be a terrible ex-president. The self-righteousness of liberals is what defines them. The real Gospel is something that liberals abhor no less than its adherents. Can anyone say “the spirit of Antichrist”. Obama is clearly a man of lawlessness. The party from which he sprang like a noxious weed is a criminal enterprise. Our second amendment rights have never before been so necessary and endangered. Better legal minds than mine, I am not a lawyer, have said in effect that when the first amendment no longer works than plan B is for the second amendment to rectify the censorship. Have you ever in your life seen more widespread triggering events, that is censorhip? They are trying to redine “patriot” as “racist”. Keep your powder dry.
Obama and illegal immigration are both issues that inspire insane howling freakouts in otherwise seemingly rational people. It’s invariably the same people who get worked up into a froth over those two issues, it’s only those two issues that provoke such a response, and those two issues only have one common thread.
I think Carter hit it right on the mark. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think it’s all a big coincidence.
You’re right Jason, you are indeed wrong.
Best sign I saw a picture of from Saturday:
“It doesn’t matter what this sign says - you will call it racism anyway”
Just so that we all know the rules:
Disagree with Bush: Dissent is intelligent and patriotic
Disagree with Obama: You’re a racist
I predict that by the end of this year the charge of “racism” will be completely meaningless. Those that are throwing it around may want to re-read “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” (wait - is that use of the word boy racist or sexist?)
Jason of course, you are wrong in the validity of your opinion, as I suspect you full well knew when you wrote your provocative ad hominem. When you throw a stone into a pack of dogs, you always know the one you have hit. Knowing who you are now, I rebuke you, for you emotional rant. “Answer a fool according to his folly lest he become wise in his own conceit.”
Worst president of the 20th century defending the worst president of the 21st century.
Some things never change….
At this point in time, George W. Bush gets the title of worse President of the 21st century. I am not saying Obama could not take over that title but he has to be given time to prove your point. Only time will tell.
Incorrect MoveForward, obama and his Capitol laps dogs have caused a greater chasm in this country than President Bush did in eight years. obama is headed toward being the worst President this country has ever had to endure.
Totally agree with you on this one Owen. Any effort to place the president beyond criticism should be shot down immediately. Carter may be a good person in some ways, but he is being a vile scumbag here.
Bush= 3% unemployment
Obama =double didget unemployment
Bush = no car mfg. ownership
Obama = owns car mfg.
Bush = Businesses thriving
Obama = Businesses failing
Bush = Defends America
Obama = apologizes for America
Bush = Christian values
Obama = says he is Christian,but his Pastor is a h8er
Bush = Pro-business
Obama = anti-business
Bush = less taxes
Obama = increased taxes
Bush = decent cabinet & friends
Obama= Tax dodgers, Communists, Bombers, American-h8ers
Bush = for the unborn
Obama= no for the unborn
Bush = less deficit
Obama = increased deficit
Yeah, I see how Bush was so bad. [sarcasm]
The ultimate comparison between the two is George Walker Bush was a legal President of the United States while Barack Hussein Obama seems not to be. Hence it seems that we’ve had one President this century and our country is in a Constitutional crisis now having an apparent usurper with his hands on the levers of power. BHO paid hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees to avoid addressing the question of whether he meets the Constitutional requirement of being a “natural born citizen”. If I sound like a wacko “birther” to you, do your own research starting with WorldNetDaily.com.
Bush = less deficit
Sometimes the stuff people write here make as much sense as the scribblings on the bathroom wall of an insane asylum.
Some people need to tone down the racist rhetoric. We are headed into extremely dangerous territory. The things said recently by Malkin, Limbaugh and Carter are ridiculously irresponsible.
I agree with neomom “I predict that by the end of this year the charge of “racism” will be completely meaningless.”
We need to make the word meaningless. I am attending this weekends tea party with a sign.
OK, I’m racist,,,,now let’s debate the issues. Take the word away by making it meaningless. And by the way, I am also sexist, bigoted, homophobic and an idiot.
I am ready to tell the left, call me what you will, now let’s debate.
Iron Brigade Warrior
I’m as conservative as they come and World Net Daily is not a reputable source..
The birther crap is the right-wing version of the 9/11 truthers.
There are plenty of very real and legitimate concerns about Obama. His birth is not one of them.
3rd Way -
Bush spent like Paris Hilton on a bender - but the deficit at the end of Dec 2008 was about $480 B.
In 9 months Obama and his merry band of Congressional idiots have taken that number to somewhere in the vicinity of $1.9 T
I believe that the “T” number is factually larger than the “B” number. No?
3rd Way, thanks for explaining where you are coming from (an insane asylum apparently according to your earlier post). I found this blog today, and I have not written anywhere on the blogosphere with more kindred spirits and fewer anarchists. One’s understanding of Western thought requires both the reading of, and familiarity with the with Holy Scriptures: both Old and New Testaments. See the University of Chicago’s Great Books of the Western World series if you think this opinion is anything less than a weighty fact. What “racist rhetoric” have you read on this blog today? The United States of America is today quite literally “dangerous territory” due to the totalitarian nature of our current government and the tolerated unanswered legitimacy question of the White House occupant. Reasoning is necessary to rachet down the rhetoric especially on the left. Let’s agree to restore the normalcy and safety this country formerly enjoyed. Your personal attacks do not rise to the level of arguing an identifiable position other than mindless compliance with politically correct liberalism. The inauguration of the One was the USA’s Kristallnacht in a real sense, Christians being the targets of the violent intimidation.
I admit that the general level of panicky freakout and violent anger in America has been high for the last decade. Fin de siecle hangover or 9/11 or something. But it’s only the socialist muslim terrorist with no birth certificate, B Hussein Obama, and the murderous criminal scavengers coming across the border to destroy our economy and reclaim the American Southwest that have prompted this kind of insane response.
Again, is it just a coincidence that these are the two brown person issues? Is the public response to ObamaCare so much more “exuberant” this time around than it was with HillaryCare because of the times we live in? Has the nearly half-century old problem of illegal immigration reached some kind of critical tipping point in the last couple of years, even though it’s been in decline?
Instead of just telling me I’m wrong (or stringing together some incoherent cliches - seriosuly, wtf Iron Brigade?), why has no one actually addressed what I wrote in my comment? Humor me, if you must.
Jason - “insane howling freakout” and “Carter hit it right on the mark”
Since you can obviously read our minds and hearts, we felt no need to respond.
Neomom, could you please tell me what you mean by conservative? What is your source for the reputation you have of wnd.com? It is a news website nothing more. Is everything posted there false? Do you know who Joseph Farah is? What birther crap are you referring to? Do birds or airplanes fly without strong right wings? The so-called birthers are the antithesis of truthers. The former being protectors of the constitutional republic which we were founded to be, and the latter being rabid haters of some or all of the following: George W. Bush, the GOP and the USA as founded. Whether, BHO is legitimate is nore complicated than his birth certificate. You do not understand that the issue of “natural born citizenship”, it is a valid issue. The truth on this matter will bring down the Obama “presidency” if the judiciary has sufficient residual legitimacy . The glib pronouncements you made in your post at 14:23 CDT are not studied positions. You sounded like a parrot. If BHO were legitimate he would have answered in court the challenges to his legitimacy. It is clear that you do not even know that a California judge has scheduled a hearing on the matter. New mom, I’m an experienced Grandfather of three, I would appreciate some deference in the future on matters of our disagreements. Thank you.
Jason

IBW -
I suspect that on most ideas we are on the same side. But WND has just gone wacky on the birth thing and it makes the rest of us look wacky too.
In reality, it is irrelavent anymore if Obama is a natural-born citizen. The constitutional crisis would be far too devastating. So this would be a good place for that dead horse icon too.
As I stated, there are a plethora of things to go after Obama on: the spending, rampant corruption within his administration, the spending, all sorts of questionable connections (ACORN/SEIU, Soros, etc), the spending, the czars, the spending, Cap&Tax;, the spending, his apology tours, the spending, Honduras and the way he insists on pissing off our allies and kissing ass to Venezuela and Iran, Healthcare, and did I mention the spending?
So to focus on one or two single issues that will alienate the vast majority of the public when there is so much else out there that conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, some Democrats, Christians, agnostics - a big x-section of the public - can get behind seems like a rather silly and self-defeating plan of action
I can’t read your mind neomom, that’s why I’m forced to form my impression of the situation based on my own observations.
I see people freaking out. Would you deny that’s taking place? You don’t see this behavior at 2nd Amendment rallies. You don’t see it at Federalist Society meetings. We’ve never seen it in the history of townhall meetings. We’ve never had a member of Congress scream at the president during an address.
I don’t see why these two issues provoke these freakouts, but no other issues, with the exception of maybe abortion and/or war, do. Just explain to me what’s different instead of telling me I’m wrong. With no other explanation, and given the only commonality, I have to assume it’s racism that makes people particuarly punchy about our half black president and Mexicans crossing the border. Does that seem like a totally irrational conclusion to you? If me and Jimmy are so clearly wrong, then you just have to explain why. Should be easy.
neomom, any and “all” concerns about obama’s right to hold the office of President are legitimate. When there are questions that are not being answered, and in fact, are refused to be answer to the satisfaction of the citizenry, there is reason to believe something is amiss. Just because some talking head on TV or the radio says it’s a non-issue doesn’t make it so. If he’s hiding something it’s our “right” to question it until the truth comes out, and if our Government weren’t so frikking corrupted all of these questions would have been answered long before the first ballot were cast in November. obama comes from a family of nut job socialists, and this apple apparently didn’t fall far from the tree.
Jason - maybe you should look a little harder or try listening a bit. Maybe you could look at my post to IBW above for a start…. I’ve commented on these blogs for a couple of years, but never had the desire to actually get my keister off the couch until the waning days of the Bush admin. Now I’ve gone to rallies and gotten involved with a local campaign to oust one of the most evil and corrupt men I have ever met (short version - he’s a sexual predator of teenage boys that come to his law practice for help and has been protected for decades by the Democratic establishment in NC).
I have met Libertarians, Republicans, Democrats, high school and college kids, blacks and whites and legal immigrants, stay at home moms, folks with full-time jobs like me, and retired people at these meetings and rallies.
There are many, many reasons for what this relatively spontaneous uprising is about. And contrary to what the DNC says, we really have no leader. Some of the more common themes are that it has become obvious that Barack Obama presented himself as a fraud. He campaigned as a moderate on positive Change. The problem is that the change he actually brought was the “Chicago” way - radicals, incestuous corruption, no transparency, and the method of completely destroying those that oppose you. His administration is full of corrupt cronies - all the people he asked us to look at “surrounding” him before the election - Voelker, Buffett, even Biden and Clinton - have been kicked to the curb.
It is also obvious that our elected officials have completely forgotten that they work for us. We DO NOT work for them. They are refusing to listen to us. Remember Feinstein stating that the calls to her office were 10-1 against the TARP bailout and they passed it anyway? What do you think happened with the additional bailouts, and the omnibus bill, and the budget, and Cap and Trade.
Now they are just insulting us. Lets see - the elected officials in this country have now called us: domestic terrorists, political terrorists, nazis, racists, astroturf, paid for by the insurance companies, mean, selfish, - Hell, I can’t even remember them all anymore.
Don’t forget the fellating (formerly) “mainstream” media. They are so in the tank for Obama I’m surprised that there are still 29% of Americans that believe what they say.
If we get even mentioned it is in the same dismissive nature as our so-called “representatives”. Our local rag did not even cover the 9/12 march - zero words. But man - Cindy Sheehan and her 10 supporters in Crawford got weeks of coverage. They misrepresent and outright lie about us. LaRouche supporters are suddently conservatives. The anarchist that broke windows in Denver was immediately put out as some angry, rabid conservative. Most of the time they simply ridicule and dismiss us. Nothing says “honest reporting” like Anderson Cooper and others smirking about the couple hundred thousand “Teabaggers” on April 15. I had to explain what that was to my mother, thanks for that.
The level of spending is mind-boggling. You get to the point of believing that they are actually trying to destroy this country by destroying the economy for decades. My kids are small, but my great-grandkids will still be paying for the bender this crew has been on. And yes - we know it started before Jan 20. But one Senator Barack Obama voted FOR that same TARP bill we all so desperately tried to stop so it is a bit disingenuous for him to not take ownership of it now.
Start piling on all of the F..ing Political Correctness and the absolute failing of our education system - good God - our kids don’t even know the history of this country anymore. You can’t mention that our founder’s were deeply faithful to God. The Republic has been turned into a democracy. A group was banned from a July 4 parade in RI for handing out pocket Constitutions. Those that believe in State’s rights are now “Tenthers”.
As far as the illegals go. Why don’t you ask a legal immigrant how they feel about it. So you know what it takes to become a legal immigrant in this country? Did you know that they just raised the immigration “fee”? So those that follow the rules get screwed even more. But those that don’t even have the f…ing courtesy to sign the damned guest book get a free ride and special treatment. One of the unreported secrets of the March on DC on 9/12 were the number of immigrants there. An especially large group of Cubans and Russians. Ponder that for a bit.
And yeah - I think English should be our official language. My great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents showed up here from Norway and Germany and Italy and adapted to American life - including learning English. No bi-lingual education, no bi-lingual signs. If it is good enough for everyone else, it should be good enough for those wishing to move north.
Healthcare is just the latest straw to pile on all of the above.
I couldn’t give a rat’s hiney that Obama is black. He simply stands politically for just about everything I disagree with.
And Jimmy Carter is an anti-Semitic moron.
There - I feel better now.
Scott
Well said! The failures of the checks and balances are due to corruption and dereliction. Those failures allowed the election farce to proceed, with the subsequent apparent deception of the public to sufficient degree to allow the seating of the apparent puppet.
Neomom
Your 1751 hrs rant made me feel better too. Amen!
Jason
To be humored lease go read Ann Coulter’s,
“Liberal lies about health care: Joe Wilson edition!”
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=110022
She is a lot funnier than I am.
First off, it jumped out at me that your ancestors didn’t avail themselves of the dozens of Noweigan and German-language public schools in Wisconsin in the 1800s. Why was that? Did they learn English at home before attending English-language schools a few years behind their peers? Seems strange. And no bilingual signs? Why didn’t they move to one of those immigrant communities that’s turned into a tourist destination today and still displays the old bi-lingual, or more often just foreign language signs that were standard back then? And regardless of what your family did, how is it so unfair for those things to exist today for Spanish and other language speakers, but it was okay back then for European immigrants? Again, it’s hard not to read your double standard and rewriting of history as at least a little bit racist, whether you recognize it or not. And that’s what I’m talking about.
But I guess you’re saying that we could have expected this kind of seething rage and outrageous behavior after 8 months of any Democrat taking the presidency. That makes me feel better, kind of. Sorry people call you names, the news doesn’t report on more of the stuff you like, and schools won’t bend the truth to paint all the founding fathers as Christians. That must be rough. And all that spending that ended the recession instead of being used to take over other countries was indeed terrible. Carry on freaking out at B Hussien Obama the muslim terrorist, and FIND THAT BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!! You’ve convinced me that you would have treated Hillary Clinton the exact same way
An estimated 1.7 million Americans (taxpayers) swarm into Washington DC to protest the way in which Congress and the President are driving this nation, and Charlie Gibson (ABC WORLD NEWS TONIGHT) is “consciously oblivious” the their presence. ???? Evidence that the mainstream media has a socialist agenda, and BHO is part of that agenda.
Oh Great Oracle Jason.
I voted for HRC.
I think the birthers are nuts.
Blows your mind doesn’t it.
But you have also convinced me that it doesn’t matter what anybody says, you will believe they are racist.
Good Day!
I agree that they’re nuts. And I don’t know about you, but when I encounter insanity like this I try to understand it, rather than just chalk it up to accute spntaneous mass psychosis.
So what is it that motivates their behavior? What’s different this time around? Are all presidents treated like this? No. Are all Democrats treated like this? Never in history. So what’s the variable, and how can that help us understand the nutjobs? What would motivate them to suspect that the president isn’t an American citizen in this case?
Like I said in my first post, maybe I’m wrong, but I haven’t heard a single alternative explanation, and I can’t come up with one myself, so I have to assume that the reason these people are freaking out is because they don’t like Obama’s skin tone. Maybe it’s because he’s a smoker. Maybe it’s because he plays basketball. Maybe it’s because he’s from Hawaii. But none of those things have historically been a source of great conflict in this country. I’m open to other explanations, but I’m not going to ignore the obvious. Okham’s razor, but all I hear around here is how that’s absurd and impossible, and I’m wrong, end of story.
Also think it’s funny that you voted for Hillary. Wouldn’t she have done virtually the same things as Obama? The things that enrage you? Why would you support her but attack Obama, even though they stand for almost the exact same ideals and campaigned on almost the exact same positions? Weird, huh?
neomom
How did Obama acquire the US citizenship you think that he holds?
By birth in Hawaii? How do you know that? He would be the first person born in 2 different hospitals simultaneously. Don’t you know his sister has named 2 different hospitals as his birthplace? Do you think you have seen his birth certificate online? I have seen online a thoroughly debunked forgery of a Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth (COLB), a document of a different kind than a long form birth certificate.
The United States Justice Foundation writes:
Last November, people said we were crazy to pursue this issue. Now, we’ve been shown to be right in our pursuit of the truth. As we show in this documentary, it’s not just the original birth certificate that they’re refusing to release. Barack Obama’s legal team has reportedly spent over one million dollars so far to STOP anyone from seeing ANY of his actual identification documents, or many other documents, such as:
* His actual long-form birth certificate (NOT an easily-forged electronic copy of a short-form document that is not even officially acceptable)
* His Passport files
* His Harvard Law School records
* His Columbia University records
* His Occidental College records, including financial aid he received
* His Punahou School records, where Mr. Obama attended from the fifth grade until he finished high school
* His Noelani Elementary School records, where Barack Obama attended kindergarten (according to the Hawaii Department of Education, students must submit a birth certificate to register—but parents may bring a passport or student visa if the child is from a foreign country)
* His complete files and schedules of his years as an Illinois state senator from 1997 to 2004
* His Illinois State Bar Association records
* His Baptism records
* The Obama/Dunham marriage license
* The Soetoro/Dunham marriage license
* His Adoption records
Jason,
After reading all of your comments, I have come to the conclusion you are a whack-job and you should change you moniker to ‘Jasoner’.
Throughout the Bush Presidency (I did not vote for him or favor many of his policies) there were weekly ‘freak-out rants’ on just about every aspect of his time in office, from policies, to looks to speeches and speech patterns. Right now the biggest freak-outs are on public healthcare, the economic downturn, unions, etc. with the list winding down to illegal immigration. When was the last post about illegal immigration on this blog?
The only freak-outs about illegal immigrants lately has been regarding healthcare. You think it is surprising that the people who actually held jobs over the last year are more conscious of the way the fruits of their labor is being taken from them?
You are shocked that Obama is in a negative spotlight because he is crusading a healthcare program that he cannot accurately describe and has many experts believing will have a negative economic impact on all working Americans?
It is amazing to me that such a blatant falsehood (People are only freaking about illegal immigrants and Obama, not his expensive socialistic policies) is being put forth as a reasonable statement and that you are asking for a response. You might as well ask someone to defend 2 + 2 = 5. What you have no defense? Well then obviously all my hypotheses are correct and no one here knows squat about math.
I know illegal immigration hasn’t been the culture war flavor of the month for quite some time, but I included it because it’s the other issue in the last several years where a lot of people on one side completely lose their minds in what seems to be a disproportionate response to the situation and then immediately dismiss the idea that racism might have a little to do with their freakout.
Bush suffered a lot of freakouts too, and was outrageously attacked by people who had a different kind of social problem. General “piss off daddy and get back at the popular kids who picked on you in highschool” alienation, envy and insecurity issues, I would guess based on my observations of the screamers. Not every single one of them, of course, but enough that you could get a feel for it from the mob even if every member didn’t share those conditions. Same with racism influencing the feelings, actions and reactions of many of the birthers and teabaggers screaming their heads off.
Bush was also attacked, much more rationally, by people who had specific ideological problems with his actions. Same thing with Obama. I have never once heard anyone say that ALL people who are opposed to Obama are opposed to him because they’re racist. That would be ridiculous. But no more ridiculous than claiming that no one who attacks Obama is a racist, or that the tone of those attacks isn’t any different because of his race. I don’t understand how anyone could believe that, but here we are. Do you think these 9/12 signs might have a little racist subtext to them, or am I a whackjob for reading that into the situation?

Jason -
You are obviously a troll. You have no real desire to even try to understand.
“teabagger” ?
Fuck off.
I can’t tell you how many times I saw signs or heard the Bush/monkey comparison, but it wasn’t racist, it was anti-Bush. Hopefully it was anti-Bush because of his party and/or policy, but it wasn’t racist only because Bush is white, even though the sign be carried by a black man.
Robbin’ for the hood is just plain funny to me. Is it funny because Obama is black? Not at all. It is funny because Obama has very redistributionist policies and is a clever reference to Robin Hood and black slang for neighborhood.
Is the last one funny or offensive because Obama is black? Not at all. It is offensive or funny because of the way Obama seems to be subservient to Muslim leaders and at least tolerant enough of terrorists to be a working friend with Ayers. None of those signs seem racist to me especially in the context of him being President and all the crap and ridicule that the Presidents have endured in the 21st century.
Obama is being put through the wringer for his policies. As they get more radical (to a conservative’s eye at least) he will get more crap from conservatives. To be labeled racist for freaking out about spending trillions of dollars on healthcare to ‘save money’ like the European countries is a pathetic meme to me.
Jason
Thanks for sharing the protest signs. They were funny. Here is a racist picture for you, a yellow fellow beating a brown who is down.
:zzdeadhorse:
Singalong with me:
Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world,
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus Loves the little children of the world.
If you don’t know the song by heart you didn’t grow up in a bible-believing, Christian church in the United States of America. We and our offspring know and believe from our earliest memories.
Gee - this is fun, we could play this game all day….
I also believe that a cosmic Jewish zombie will remove evils forces from my soul that were put there when a woman created from a rib took an apple from a talking snake if I ceremoniously eat his flesh and drink his blood in a quasi cannibalistic ritual!
And that Obama wasn’t born in the US!
High five, IBW!
I think there’s a good chance that Joe Wilson is a racist. Same goes for Kanye West. Both are clearly jackasses. But, we know we will have made progress on race when someone can criticize a black politician without immediately coming under suspicion of racism.
Totally agree with Charlie (seriously this time, unlike my last comment)
It’s not a contest. Posting examples of people acting like freaks towards Bush doesn’t somehow legitimize racism towards Obama. The issue isn’t whether criticizing the president, even if done crassly, is wrong, it’s whether some of the criticism of Obama is is related to his race. I suspect that it is. In fact, I think you’d have to be blind or lying to deny it.
I wish I could say it’s been interesting or illuminating, but it hasn’t. Instead, the only counter-argument I’ve heard is that people are pissed off in general, but it has nothing to do with race, despite obvious evidence to the contrary (check out Madison’s craigslist some time to dispell any doubts you might have), and that Bush was also outrageously attacked by people with social problems, so that somehow makes racism okay. But I need to go before the librarian takes my head off, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
I also totally agree with Charlie, though I think the incidence of calling someone racist just for disagreeing with the president is greatly overstated.
I’m not a huge Obama fan, and neither are a lot of people I know. Nobody has ever accused us of being racists. Wonder how that could be? Maybe becuase I make rational, reasoned arguements against the policies I disagree with rather than screaming and calling him a terrorist, or holding up signs full of obvious racist imagery and rhetoric.
May the Lord rebuke you.
Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire [a]
and the peoples plot in vain?2 The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together
against the LORD
and against his Anointed One.3 “Let us break their chains,” they say,
“and throw off their fetters.”4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.5 Then he rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,6 “I have installed my King [c]
on Zion, my holy hill.”7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD :
He said to me, “You are my Son [d] ;
today I have become your Father. [e]8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.9 You will rule them with an iron scepter [f] ;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
But then again - The Democrats like to recycle real racists and then have them call everybody else racists
And KKK Kleagle and Grand Cyclops Robert Byrd who filibustered the Civil Rights Act in 1964 and wrote the following in a letter protesting the desegregation of the military after WWII
The ex-Klansman vowed never to fight “with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
Ho! By Zeus’s thunderbolt, what a tale!
Okay, we get that Jesus is like the Michael Jordan of Christianity or whatever, but can we start talking about this like adults now?
People protesting GWB (freakishly or not) = Well, OK, it s a free country, we can protest our government. Cool!
People protesting Obama (freakishly or not) = Raaaaasicm
The cynic in me says that the Democrats selected Obama just because he was black and that way everyone would be so afraid of being called racists that nobody would dare protest him at all.
Charlie is right.
People can and should be able to criticize any bad president (or good president), regardless of race or party. The racism answer is a powerful silencer. Although Carter has a right to envoke it, he is a douchebottle for doing so. And I’m free to say so.
Adult conversation? That would be refreshing. How about a little remedial reading before we attempt what has thus far proven impossible. And another thing the socialization of American is a nanny statist activity. Only children need nannies. A 2-minute video follows

At first the video wouldn’t play, but then I put on my trusty aluminum foil hat and it came in loud and clear! Thanks for the video IBW! VERY INFORMATIVE. High Five!
IBW,
We should hang out sometime. Jesus, Elvis and Bigfoot are going to come over tomorrow night. We’re going to build a scale model of the World Trade Center to prove that planes couldn’t take the towers down. It HAD to have been Bush! Then we’re going to check our horiscopes and see the chiropractor to make sure it’s still cool to not vaccinate our kids. I think after that we’re going to kidnap Neal Armstrong and make him fess up that the Apollo 11 landing was faked. Save your appetite because we’re having KFC (but not Jesus because it’ll make him impotent).
You seem to read some funny stuff. Is it while smoking funny stuff, too. Or, are you more into hard drugs?
I’m just high on Jesus’s love! I read funny stuff, like World Nut Daily. That Chuck Norris guys is SOOO SMART!!!!
C’mon now, let’s go protest something!
Also, do you have any more little poems you can copy and paste to the comments section here? That’d be AWESOME! If we just keep posting silly little poems and talking about our delusions, we can just totally IGNORE the issues at hand! YIPPY!!!
...what’s that noise. Oh, the ward nurse wants you to take your meds. You’ll feel better soon.
Issues…you really do have issues don’t you?
The ultimate comparison between the two is George Walker “Bush was a legal President of the United States while Barack Hussein Obama seems not to be. If I sound like a wacko “birther” to you, do your own research starting with WorldNetDaily.com.”
-IBW
Yes, yes of course, I’m the one who has issues.
Your meds seem to be working.
Good. Now that my meds have put me in a sable state of mind like you, I can read World Nut Daily, preach conspiracy theories and pray to a sky wizard. Then everyone could see how sane and well adjusted I am.
Some of us can cannot the dots while most of us can’t. But only the dullest among us can’t get the picture after it has been revealed. Trolls are dull aren’t y…they?
Some of us can connect the dots while most us can’t. But only the dullest don’t get the picture when it has been revealed. The Three Billy Goats Gruff really messed you up when they knocked you off your bridge…huh?
Just closing the bold, and enjoying the show…
I suppose you believe that’s a true story too. Kind of silly to accuse me of being a troll when you show up to spout wacked out conspiracy theories and talk down to other commentors that don’t share the same imaginary friends as you.
Hypocrite.
With only 3 of us logged in who are these trolls and or/sock puppets. What can you tell us Owen?
You don’t have to register to comment on the site. While there are currently (as I write this) 5 registered users on the site right now, there are 43 non-registered people visiting the site, too. And they can comment as they wish.
(Bonus points to Jason for closing the bold.
)
“Racism” and “racist” already mean nothing. Do they not? Their abuse has made the charge a joke.
neomom, et al.
Here is a left leaning apologetic for the so-called “birther” controversy.

I hope that you overcome your prejudice on the subject to take an informed look at the issue.
