Blunt Hammers Obama
Wow. Blunt lives up to his name.
Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”
Is this for real? I followed some of the links, seemed to link mostly to other blogs, and then a TV news video talking about taking action if there are false TV ads.
If this is real, it is the 2nd scary thing I read this week. Here is the first:

Somebody doesn’t remember the late 60s and early 70s.
I remember going to my dad’s office (he was a professor at the time) and catching wiffs of tear gas and hearing the gunfire of rubber bullets. And the protests on TV were the cleaned up versions.
Then there were the Weather Underground, Black Panthers, SDS, etc. Not exactly nice, reasoned folks.

Here is what the guy who broke the “story” wrote.
Gateway Pundit found the KMOV video; while neither Joyce nor McCulloch say they’re going to apply criminal libel statutes to Obama critics, the implication is very clear. (In the time after the news tory, Joyce denied that she will prosecute anyone, but, again, the implication is clear). Also, we find out that certain Missouri “law enforcement officials” are part of this, including that known Democrat hack, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer. (Hint: Boyer was a big loudmouth against conceal-carry). The implication here is also clear — if people with badges and guns are getting involved, they want Obama critics to shut up lest some cop will arrest them and send them to jail. We also found out from this news clip that this is indeed all at the behest of the Obama campaign.
Lot of “implications” here.

Gov Blunt is abusing his authority as Governor. Obama has caught up with McCain in the Missouri polls.
On Their Own Time - NOT Illegal
Blunt said he has “exposed plans.” He does not site any incident of actual treats to anyone.
Frank Donatelli, deputy chairman of the Republican National Committee:
In a telephone interview with the News-Leader, Donatelli admitted the Democratic prosecutors “haven’t specifically said” they would use their prosecutorial powers on Obama’s behalf.”
I watched the video. There was no statement from the interviewed individuals to indicate they planned to doing anything in their official capacity of enforcing laws.
Matt Blunt is a sleaze that is leaving office because Missourians would never reelect him. He is looking for a job in the McCain administration.
Sen. Claire McCaskill is too smart to do anything that stupid. She was Missouri’s State Auditor and a prosecuting attorney.

Guess I had better exercise my freedom of speech before (Heaven forbid) Comrade “Get in their face” Rezko Obama gets elected, at such time when freedom of speech will end soon thereafter.

Gov Blunt’s report is not the only example of Obama-campaign thuggery—On WGN, the Obama campaign tried to intimiedate them from airing any opposition to the friend of Bill Ayers (obama) campaign, including Stanley Kurtz and David Freddoso—two American patriots. They love their country, which is much more than we can say than Obama.

This would be typical of liberals like obama. they are hell bent on destroying our constitutional freedoms. we need to and i mean all of us who car about our country and our freedom to worship and freedom of speech need to get out and vote for John McCain and all other conservatives or people who care about our country and way of life. We need to defeat the evil that obama and other liberals stand for. we have way too many liberals on the judicial bench who are destroying freedoms and attacking christianity from every angle. John McCain would appoint people who don’t legislate from the bench and who will uphold the constitution and not try and change it.

Thanks CD—very well said. Obama says he’s a Christian, but when he spoke before his liberal buddies in San Fran, he was caught on tape belittling those people who “cling to their religion and their guns…..”
Hopefully McCain gets even more aggressive about the company that Obama keeps (Rezko, Ayers, Farrakhan, Rev Wright, as well as the “O” endorsements of Hamas, Ahmadinjad, US Communist Party, Mommar Kadhaffi, etc.).
There is SOOOOO much materrial for McCain to use—He just HAS to use it. Besides the obvious drive for Obama Camp to restrict freedom of speech for the conservatives.
