First off, GOP3.com live blogged the event. I was late and arrived right about the time that they left. I’m very thankful that they could fill me in as to what happened before I got there.
The event went well. Thank you very much to Wispolitics, Marquette University, and everybody else who was involved. It was a good experience.
Since it’s now several hours after the fact and I’m done with the inaugural mowing of my lawn, here are a few random comments on the event…
- Eugene Kane is smaller than I expected. He’s funny, but predictable. I couldn’t get over my disgust at his inherent racism. Que sera sera.
- My panel went well, I thought. As expected, I went off the cuff… but I wore two cuffs to give me the upper hand on the audience.
- I hate to admit it, but I really like Jay, Scott, and a few other liberal bloggers. OK, I don’t “hate” to admit it, but I thought you should know.
- Every time I have a chance to share time with Tom McMahon, I am humbled. What a fantastic human being.
- Nick has some pictures here.
- Mike Gousha is a classy, classy guy. I had never met him in person before and he lived up to his reputation. Milwaukee needs more guys like him.
- As usual, the after-party was the best. I was able to share beer and conversation with a gaggle of bloggers, both liberal and not so liberal. I really enjoy those gatherings.
OK, I’m off to give some kids some baths. Thanks, everyone, for the great time. I look forward to the next gathering.
UPDATE: Here’s the Wispolitics summary.
Owen…you were so busy with everyone else I just didn’t want to interrupt….perhaps next time I’ll just wander up, chit chat and say hey…..but I was there…...I LOVED the session you had with Jay…and believe it or not, I thought Jay was a GREAT speaker, irregardless of his politics…..no wonder he gets asked back at these things…..
And so were you….great job all around…..
Dang it… sorry I missed you!
Owen, you did a fantastic job overall but particularly in making the point that the blogosphere is open to everyone. No one is standing in the schoolhouse door refusing entry to anyone on the basis of race, gender or political affiliation. On that point, it’s a shame that James T. Harris couldn’t make the summit today. His input would have been quite interesting.
I didn’t know you were there, Glenn! I wish I would have known. I would have liked to pick your brain.
Owen,
You and Jay did a great job. You two are like two peas in a pod. (Sorry about the elementary analogy, it is 11:15 at night) You both feed off each rather well. By the way, it was a pleasure meeting you. I look forward to the next event.
Owen, - Charlie, Jessica and Patrick know how to contact me.
Definitely you and Jay were the best part. Great to see you.
I gotta agree with Scott (and since I didn’t go to the first Blog Summit, the info provided by Jennifer Peterson was very helpful).....
So sorry we didn’t get time to talk! Looking forward to getting to know you a bit more. Rae
