Bill Richardson Ad

I must admit that I think that Bill Richardson is the most qualified Democrat running for president.  I’d vote for him over McCain or a number of other Republicans.

  1. Good choice Owen. The guy has a great resume and really knows how to work a room.

  4. So you think Richardson is better on Iraq than McCain? Better on fighting terrorism? Better on cutting wasteful government spending? More likely to keep the Bush tax cuts? More likely to protect the sanctity of life? More likely to appoint judges in the Alito-Roberts mold? On what issues is Richardson better than McCain?

  5. Yes, yes, yes, no—dumb idea, yes—depending on how you define it, what—more opus dei?, how about not pandering.

  6. Hm.  Well I went and found some stuff on Richardson’s positions. Seems okay to me.

  7. Are you kidding Owen? I will never, as a conservative and a Republican, understand the hatred for McCain that so many on the right have. Yes, McCain/Feingold was bad. I won’t even deny that, but how in the world is Richardson better?

It’s true that Richardson has the best resume in the Dem field. I think among the Democrats he is the best choice. However, that does not mean that he is better than McCain.

Richardson is not better on the war, he is not better on spending. I doubt very much that he is better on social issues. Simply because McCain is not in line with Jim Sensenbrenner or Glenn Grothman does not mean that he is a bad Republican or a bad leader.

  8. This points up to something I always like to throw out to right wing business people—“if you had to hire George Bush to work for you, would you?”

This is usually a stunner. They can’t even come up with a lame answer. Just a stare followed by a nervous laugh.

  9. If you watched Richardson in the debate, or you’ve seen him work a room, you’ll understand why he’ll never be the nominee, much less the president.

  12. Yes, I would hire G.W. Bush- not to run a war, mind you and probably not oversee spending.  But he has some good ideas, works hard, can raise money, cut taxes, maintains loyalty among his staff and I don’t think any body would seriously attack his ethics.  So, he would make a good CEO of a decent company.

  13. You sure know how to lower the bar.

    Good ideas?—Like?

Works hard—He spends three hours a day in the gym. Not even his closest supporters would accuse him of being a hard worker.

Maintains loyalty from his staff—Great if you want a company of yes men. That loyalty he demands has been described as to the point of being psychotic.

Don’t think any body would seriously attack his ethics If you overlook lying about the reasons for going into Iraq.

He would make a good CEO of a decent company Excuse me? We’re talking about the United States of America. Maybe he should be sent off to run a decent company.

  14. Sorry kr that your tin foil hat is on too tight on your head and your hatred of Bush is pathetic.

  15. kr - your changing the question post answer.  Your question was would you hire W?  Dan said yes.  You then criticized Dan’s answer by saying “were talking about the United States of America,” but were not.  You asked if we would hire him - not if we want him to be president.
