Biden Threatens Exeutive Orders on Gun Control

Boy… remember back in the day when Constitutional protections meant something?

“The president is going to act,” Biden said in a briefing to reporters before the inaugural meeting of a new national task force on gun control. “Executive order, executive action that can be taken; we haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and all the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action, we believe, is required.”

Biden did not specify what kind of action the president might take. In the past the Obama administration has used executive orders, which have the force of law, to require gun dealers to report when customers buy multiple high-powered rifles and to increase penalties for violating gun laws. A new order, nearly certain to face legal challenges, could seek to tighten enforcement of laws governing private sales of guns or to beef up background checks.

  1. So who enforces this unlawful order-Eric Holder?  Is he still in contempt of Congress for not producing the Fast & Furious papers?

  2. I have a question that maybe someone could answer for me. Is it possible that the president can issue an executive order that “temporarily” bans the purchase, sale, use and or possession of handguns? I’m just don’t know the law when it comes to the president and the powers of the office.

  4. This of course is nothing unique to Obama. Bush did the same thing during the TARP and Auto Bailout debates… saying that because Congress failed to act, he would take immediate action. The Executive Branch has grown into that of a King… and it happened well before Obama.

  5. Rule #1 in the dictators hand book:
    Disarm the civilan population.
Obama can do what ever he likes. There is no justice system that will stop him. You can take his orders to the supreme court, but he will soon have stacked also.

  6. EOs cannot usurp the Constitution. Anyone trying to disarm us through an EO is acting illegally and should be dealt with thusly.

  8. Apparently, the California teachers union doesn’t like having their retirement fund making money.  They are working on divesting from funds that are involved with firearms.  Is it too late to get into Solyndra?

  11. Clearly, the White House has the detailed political tactic book from the National Socialist German Workers Party.

The question is:  will we, as citizens, make the same passive mistakes the German people made, and blindly walk the path of letting socialists rise again to commit the same historical human right abuses?

Unfortunately, I’m a skeptic…it seems socialism always rises to abuse human rights, even in this country.

  12. I think the only Bill of Rights not routinely violated is the one about quartering of troops and I fully expect to have a few soliders lodged in my spare bedroom in a few years.
