Barrett Weighs in on Palermo

Well, Barrett finally weighs in and this is all he can muster.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett on Wednesday called for a “timely and fair union election” at Palermo Villa Inc., making his first public comments on the Milwaukee pizza manufacturer’s labor dispute.

Barrett’s written statement comes a week after the National Labor Relations Board made a ruling in its investigation of alleged unfair labor practices by Palermo.

“I’m hopeful that the National Labor Relations Board’s recent ruling regarding Palermo’s will lead to a timely and fair union election for the company’s workers. Workers have the right to organize, and I’m pleased that Palermo executives have publicly expressed their support for an employee vote,” Barrett said.

  1. Mayor Barrett reminds me of the little guy with the mustache sweeping behind the Elephant in the old “Fractured Fairy tails” cartoons. He’s at the end of the parade doing what he does best, pushing the crap down the street with little notice by everyone else. Come on Milwaukee, you can do better than this empty suit.

  3. Oh -  you mean like going to Palermo’s and doing a bill signing that actually made their business better.  Yah - it would be better if he just offered platitudes.

  5. Barrett, what a weak leader.

No call to buy Palermo’s or support a company in his town?

It’s all about bleeding the small business dry in Barrett’s book.

I’m glad he lost…twice!  Barrett would have been disaster for this state.  He would have made us IL, where they are cutting services randomly for mentally ill, etc. to cure their destructive finances and huge tax increases.

  6. Glad to see you agree, Anothervoice, that Tom Barrett needs someone like Scott Walker to show him how it’s done, but why should he? Walker has the whole state to worry about, unlike Barrett who only has Milwaukee to worry about. Too bad for Milwaukee it has Barrett still there to screw up that city even more, day by day.
