After the vote, disappointed protesters disrobed in City Hall, which is illegal. Once enacted, the ordinance would make it illegal for anyone over the age of 5 to expose his or her genitals in public. Exemptions will be made for parades and festivals held under a city permit.
You got to love the details behind this:
The ban was proposed because of an increasing number of complaints about a group of nudists seen almost daily in the city’s historically gay Castro District. A local bartender said it was not so much the nudity but the ‘who’ was naked. The “group” is men in their 60s and 70s. “If they looked better, it would not be so bad.”
Supervisor Christina Olague voted against the ban. “When we start to surrender some of these basic rights citywide, what’s next?”
So walking around naked is a basic right?? BUT there are exemptions for parades and festivals. Guess which ones?
I don’t know whether to be happy or sad for these protestors, to wit that their lives are either so empty or so happy that this is their major concern.
Guess where?
Kewaskum?
Guess which ones?
GermanFest?
Charlie,
I know Kewaskum was funny because I know its not an issue…
But, is there something going on at Germanfest that I’m not aware of?
Not any German tradition I’ve heard of.
Well, the Germans do fancy short leather pants.
I’m just sayin…
On a more adult level, the Germans do not snicker at nudity like a bunch of middle school boys.
If you’ve ever been in a German spa, they always have mit und ohne kleidung.
So I guess it is a German tradition.
