Back From Cruisin’

In case you didn’t notice from the post below, Wendy and I have returned from a cruise.  We went out of Miami to Samana, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau.  I’ll probably post some more pics and thoughts throughout the week.  At the moment, I’m just trying desperately to catch up.

A HUGE “Thank You” to Bill Kramer for filling in for me while I was gone.  It looks like y’all had some lively debates.  Please join me in thanking him for propping up my share of the blog for a while.  Thanks, Bill.

Boy, a lot’s been going on.

Doyle gave a speech.

Fred Thompson dropped out.

The market dived.

The government is hell bent on another idiotic bailout attempt.

The Packers lost (Wendy and I watched it from a warm bar on a cruise ship).

And dominating the news…. Heath Ledger died!!!!

Ah well, taking a vacation is a good way to prove to yourself that the earth will continue to revolve even if you aren’t there to watch it.

More later.  I’m off to work.

  3. You didn’t mention that Christian Brando, one of Marlon’s sons, also died. He served 5 years in prison for killing someone who might have beaten his sister.  The horror, the horror.

  4. In St. Thomas did you get away from the port area?  The island is much better the further away you get.

  5. In St. Thomas, Owen went snorkeling around a sunken pirate ship, and I went to St. John and hiked up a mountain.  We usually try to get away from the port area because there is only so much $10 tanzanite we care to see.

We did the same in Nassau.  We walked a ridiculous distance to the zoo, where we fed the lorries, including the one that took up residence on Owen’s head.  The zoo also has a free-roaming pig that we caught napping on a sidewalk.  They also let you hang out with their flamingos, which we discovered poop parallel to the ground. Good to know.

There was only a handful of people at the zoo.  Gorgeous place.

  6. Wendy,

Good to know.  We will be in Nassau soon.  We were just in St. Thomas and had a blast.  Magens bay was a place like we have never seen before.  The Ferry ride to St. John was great if you had a crazy captain.  Some of those guys would hammer down and those big boats almost went to the air.

Vacation can’t get here fast enough!
