Baath Party Allowed

I agree with this.

US President George W Bush has praised a new law in Iraq that will allow former members of Saddam Hussein’s Baath party to return to public life.

Mr Bush called it an important step towards national reconciliation.

There isn’t any individual party in any system that threatens liberty.  The only problem is when one party gains the power to exclude opposition.

  1. For the left that just hates to see any good come out of Iraq I suppose this will really chap their a$$.

Don’t remember where I heard it but some one made the comparison (paraphrased):

The left says you can’t build this house because you haven’t dug the foundations.

When the foundation is dug they say you can’t built the house because there are no walls.

When the walls are built they tell you there is no house because there is no roof.

Well I think the trusses are being laid in place now.

  2. Um, Sandi, we “liberals” questioned the “de-Baath-ification” strategy five years ago.

  3. The new law actually will force more former Baathists out of the civil service. It’s a farce.

  4. Oh, and Sandi, if they ever get that foundation actually built, you know, if the Iraqi parliament ever actually does something, then maybe we can start to think about discussing walls and trusses.
